Twitch is no stranger to charity events, with big names on the website bringing in huge amounts for foundations and organizations every year. So its hardly a surprise to hear that the recent ZEvent, a streaming, charity event from France, brokeTwitchrecords for donations over the weekend.
ZEvent is aTwitch charity eventthat’s taken place once a year for the past three years, generally lasting at least 50 hours split between a number of streamers. In the past they’ve raised money for organizations like Save the Children and The Red Cross.

During the three day stream, ZEvent managed to hit over €3.2 million Euros, breaking records for both their channel and for Twitch overall. By the end of their run, the event eventually made a grand total of €3.5 million, which translates to a little over $3.8 million USD. This year’s record settingTwitch fundraiserwill go towards the Pasteur Institute, a French non-profit foundation that supports scientific studies in biology and medicine.
In the past, ZEvent has raised money for Save the Children, The Red Cross, and Doctor’s Without Borders, placing the Pasteur Institute among the latest line of medically inclined foundations that the event has supported. This years beneficiary has a long track record in medicine, making breakthroughs in the control of diseases such as HIV, yellow fever, and plague. The record setting donation will likely go a long way in medical research, as well as cementingTwitch’s position as one of the top sources of charitable donationsonline.
Over the last few years, many content creators have been running charity events on all platforms from Twitch to YouTube. It’s an uplifting side to a community that doesn’t get a lot of attention.
