Summary
There are still many unanswered questions after the epic conclusion ofThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. While the sequel added so much depth to the origins of the land we knew fromThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildby introducing new civilizations, abilities, islands, weapons, and enemies, some familiar faces failed to make an appearance, namely, a large blue Rito ally.
The traveling musician Kass was never mentioned by name inTears of the Kingdom. Despite his wife Amali and their five children being present in Rito Village, only one child mentioned her father but did not indicate his location. Penn, a Lucky Clover Gazette reporter, referred to a famous bard, presumably Kass, but that’s it. It’s still strange the iconic blue Rito was nowhere to be found in the entirety ofThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Without a DLC, this disappearance may never be resolved.

The Rito Musician Has Shined in A DLC Before
The traveling musician Kass is no small character within the world ofThe Legend of Zelda. As Link traversed across Hyrule inZelda: Breath of the Wild,he would often encounter Kass, who was on a quest to uncover all the Ancient Songs.
These Ancient Songs guided Link to additional shrine quests, but only after the completion of the game did Kass confide in Link that he knew Link was the Champion from the moment he met him.

Kass’s teacher was a Sheikah Court Poet who was in love with Zelda but understoodZelda had eyes for Link, her appointed knight. Moved by witnessing Link’s sacrifice, Kass' teacher then asked Kass to pass these ballads down to the hero. Kass was one of the few characters to know Link’s true identity before Link revealed himself and was an overall necessary figure inBreath of the Wildbut was nowhere to be found in its predecessor.
Kass was also a largely influential character inBreath of the Wild’s DLC. The DLC came in two packs: DLC Pack 1: The Master Trials and DLC Pack 2: The Champions' Ballad. The Master Trails included:
The Champions' Ballad, on the other hand, included:
In The Champions' Ballad, Kass shared new original songs and helped Link tackle challenges. The Champions' Ballad gave much moreinsight into the story and dynamics of the four Champions. Upon completion, Kass kindly gifted Link an affectionate photograph of the Champions, which evensneaks its way intoTears of the Kingdom.
It would be the perfect opportunity to allow Kass to once again resume his role as a guide in a DLC forTears of the Kingdom. His disappearance has beenone of the largest mysteries inTears of the Kingdomand his presence in future downloadable content would resolve some unanswered questions. As he is a traveler, he could dig up and relay new information about the original Zonai ancient hero, the technicalities of draconification, or even elaborate on the mysterious statues in the Depths.
Unfortunately, in aFamitsu interview withZeldaproducer Eiji Aonuma, Aonuma shared that aTears of the KingdomDLC is unlikely.
“We have no plans to release additional content this time, but that is because we feel like we have done all we can do to create content in that world, and the reason we decided to make a sequel to the previous game in the first place was because we thought it would be worth experiencing new ways to play in Hyrule. Then, if such reasons arise we may return to the same world. Whether it is a sequel or new work, I think it will be a completely new way to play, so I hope you will look forward to it.”
This could hint toward aTears of the Kingdomsequel, but if there is any at all return to the shared world ofBreath of the WildandTears of the Kingdom, Kass deserves to make an appearance. Many fans initially speculated Kass would return to the franchise through a DLC, but because there are no plans, the status of the iconic Rito musician will remain yet another enigma inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
