Zack Snyder’s Justice Leaguehas gone through a very interesting path regarding its release and reception. Now,Justice LeagueandArmy of the Deadcan add Oscars glory to their list of accomplishments.

Justice Leagueset up a lot of potential future storylines that may or may not get realized. With Ben Affleck’s exit as well as Warner Bros.' refusal to acknowledgethe mistreatment of Ray Fisherand Snyder, it’s very unlikely that fans will see the director’s vision for the DCEU, which is a shame because many looked to him as the answer to what Marvel Studios has been doing with their movies.

Snyder has since gone on to do other projects, including his upcomingsci-fi epic titledRebel Moon. However, the director got another win whenJustice LeagueandArmy of the Deadwere nominated for a fan poll at the Oscars. It got even better when the films actually won, especially since the films faced some pretty solid competition when it came to the other options fans could vote for. Snyder reacted to both Oscar wins on Vero and made sure to shout out the fans.

Justice League won the Oscar fan vote for “Most Cheer-Worthy Moment.” The scene that won was when Flash entered the Speed Force, and it beat out some other tough contenders. The other nominees were the three Spider-Men swinging together inSpider-Man: No Way Home, the Avengers assembling scene fromAvengers: Endgame, the “and I am telling you, I’m not going” scene fromDreamgirlsand Neo dodging bullets inThe Matrix.

For the next category, fans voted for the fan-favourite movie. The choices wereArmy of The Dead, Spider-Man: No Way Home,Cinderella,Minamata, andtick, tick… BOOM!The winner of course was Snyder’s zombie flick,Army of the Dead. While the wins were largely symbolic, as they didn’t include an actual Oscar trophy, Snyder was shown so much love from his fan base, and it’s very heartwarming because it seemed like the love he never got from critics is being shown by the people who matter to him.

The love appears to go both ways, and it’s just in time because this time of the year marks one year since his director’s cut ofJustice Leaguewas released. Snyder had gone through a lot of trials in order to get here, but it’s good to see that he’s back in action with filmmaking and that many people are loving it. Hopefully moving forward he gets asecond shot at making films at DC.

Zack Snyder’s Justice Leagueis currently available on HBO Max.
