WWEreleased a new thirty-second updatedMonday Night RawRuthless Aggression intro using the best-known wrestlers of today intercut with Union Underground band members slamming the chords out.
Fans of theWWEknow the old Ruthless Aggression era of the franchise like they know their spandex-clad faces and heels, the Union Undergound’s hard rocking “Across The Nation” gripping them in a hammerlock and dropping their nostalgia to the mat. Mining that nostalgia, the WWE has done it again, this time using their current roster.

Pianos are destroyed and construction equipment is driven into the ring in the opener to celebrate 30 years ofRaw, set to play out in Philadelphia later this month. It featuresappearances by Bianca Belair, Roman Reigns and The Bloodline, The Street Profits, The Miz, Brock Lesner, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Cody Rhodes, The Judgment Day, and Damage CTRL, all set to what fans consider the best theme the series has ever had and one that was used for four years from 2002-2006. It’s a big old slice of fond remembrances served up in-your-face style, as the best thingsMonday Night Rawdoes are.
WWE has experience turmoil as of late. Notable events include Vince McMahon’s scandal-filled return to the institution that had forced him out, the board being gutted, andStephanie McMahon stepping downand taking the immediate next step of entering into some fairly rough surgery. Still, the franchise isn’t trying to let any of this overshadow a night that’s going to see stars old—like the Undertaker, Ric Flair, and Shawn Michaels—and new put in appearances, with the word still out on if globally-known fan favorite Dwayne Johnson will show up once again.
As loud and brash and harshly edited as anything the WWE does, the intro sets the tone for the upcoming anniversary, one in which it’s clear the honchos of the embattled franchise (with the word still out on if McMahon will unload the whole shebang onto the Saudis and ride off into the sunset on the back of a fat payday) want to have fans aboard in a way. Remaking the Ruthless Aggression intro with their current roster of red-brand Superstars is one way of letting audiences know they’re in for a rollicking time with theWWE.
