WWE 2K20was confirmed just recently through a pair ofscreenshots showing Bayley and Brock Lesnar. We still know next to nothing about the new game or what it will bring to the table in terms of new features, but there are quite a few possibilities.
In fact, there are five new features we would like to see inWWE 2K20in particular that we believe will result in a much better game. The WWE video game series is enjoying some momentum after last year’s well-receivedWWE 2K19, andWWE 2K20has the perfect opportunity to build on that momentum if it plays its cards right.

With that in mind, here are five features we’d like to see inWWE 2K20.
55. General Manager Mode
TheWWE 2Kgames have consistently delivered basically every game mode that a fan could want from a WWE video game, minus General Manager mode. General Manager mode was featured in older WWE games, likeWWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007and2008, giving players the freedom to create their own shows, sign wrestlers to contracts, and compete for the best television ratings. When playing against the right group of people in local multiplayer, General Manager mode was actually a lot of fun back in the day, and it let players simply play the role of the booker without having to actually compete in the matches (though that option was still available for those not interested in managing their own show). A proper General Manager mode hasn’t been seen in WWE video games sinceWWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008, so we won’t hold our breath for it to be shown during theAugust 5 gameplay reveal, but it would be great to see it return inWWE 2K20.
44. Better Commentary
Commentary has always been a weak point in WWE video games, for a variety of reasons. However, other sports games are able to deliver far superior commentary tracks, and so we don’t see why the same can’t be done forWWE 2K20. The main problem that needs to be overcome is the commentators saying nonsensical things that don’t actually apply to anything that’s going on in the ring, like calling wrestlers by the wrong name, for instance. Fixing that issue with commentary should improve things dramatically, and while there would still likely be room for further improvement, it would be a major step in the right direction.

33. War Games and World War 3
WWE video games are typically pretty good about introducing new matches after they appear on TV, but the same can’t be said for War Games. War Games is technically an old match, most famously used in World Championship Wrestling, but it has since seen a resurgence at NXT Takeover events. War Games was notably absent fromWWE 2K19, but hopefully it will make an appearance inWWE 2K20, as it will at the very least give longtime fans of the WWE video game series a new match type to try out along with the standard matches. Plus, the double-ring required for War Games could open the door for other old WCW match types to appear inWWE 2K20, like the 60-man World War 3 match. Whether or notWWE 2K20could pull something like that off without serious performance issues is something to consider, but if the developers are able to get it done right, these matches could provide a serious shot in the arm for the franchise.
22. Intergender Wrestling
Back in the days of the Attitude Era, intergender wrestling wasn’t uncommon. Few wrestling fans could forget Chyna’s dominant run, where she served as the bodyguard for D-Generation X and even managed to become the first woman to win the Intercontinental Championship and compete in the Royal Rumble. With the WWE’s transition to a PG-rated television product, intergender wrestling was phased out, but it appears to be making a comeback. For example, Baron Corbin physically attackedBecky Lynchon pay-per-view recently by hitting her with his End of Days finishing maneuver, something that has been virtually unheard of for years, and Nia Jax competed in the men’s Royal Rumble back in January. Intergender wrestling has also been featured quite prominently on the independent scene, and so it would be great to see it return toWWE 2K20.

11. Career Mode for Women
One of the most glaring omissions ofWWE 2K19was the lack of a proper career mode for women. Women wrestlers have been given a much bigger spotlight over the last five years or so in the WWE, with Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte wrestling in the first-ever women’s WrestleMania main event at WrestleMania 35. Despite this, the WWE video games haven’t really kept up with the times, and women wrestlers continue to be shafted with low overall ratings compared to their male counterparts and no career mode. WithBecky Lynch leaked to be the cover star ofWWE 2K20, perhaps the new game will in fact provide a proper women’s career mode, but we’ll have to wait for the Monday, August 5 reveal to be sure.
