Though manyWorld of Warcraftfans are looking forward to the upcomingDragonflightexpansion, the MMO still has one last content patch to go before then. A new Easter egg has been discovered in the Public Test Realm for Patch 9.2.5–one that pays homage to the Windrunner Sisters and their late brother Lirath, who all play major roles in the recentSylvanasnovel.
World of Warcraftis releasing Patch 9.2.5 on May 31st. In addition to adding cross-faction dungeons, raids, and PvP, the patch is also adding new story content, including at least two Heritage Armor questlines and another involving the Forsaken and Calia Menethil.

In addition to these quests, someWorld of Warcraftfans have discovered a new Easter eggat Windrunner Spire in the Ghostlands. Though the ancestral home of the Windrunner clan has been untouched byWorld of Warcraftfor some time, it seems some new items have been added there. Near the Sylvanas statue within the area, a gold and green arrow, a purple and gray bow, and a blue and silver book can be found titled “Two Suns, Two Moons,” representing Alleria, Sylvanas, and Vereesa Windrunner respectively. The book’s title is derived from Vereesa during theSylvanasnovel, referencing the siblings' nicknames.
There is also a harp, which represents Lirath, the sister’s musically-gifted younger brother. If players interact with the harp, images of him and his sisters appear. The echo of Lirath plays a short rendition of the Lament of the Highbourne before they vanish.
This is the first appearance of Lirath Windrunner inWorld of Warcraft, despite his importance to Sylvanas’ story. Her brother was shown to be a driving force toher motives duringSylvanasand colored how she treated Anduin Wrynn, whom she subconsciously connected to her deceased brother.
Sylvanas fans were excited to discover this Easter egg. Details like this add bits of immersion into the world, andplayers who readSylvanaswill undoubtedly have their heartstrings tugged by the tie-in. Many players hope these continued additions mean the outdated Quel’thalas zones may get a facelift someday.
Plenty of other players couldn’t care less about this tribute, however. Many are sick and tired ofSylvanas due to her prominence inShadowlandsandBattle for Azeroth. Additionally, without the added context from books and other media beyond the game, the Easter egg may not make sense to some. Many hopeWorld of Warcraftwill start to show its important character development within the game in the future, rather than in outside media.
