Lost amidst all the excitement ofDiablo 4’s trailer at The Game Awards is its crossover mount coming toWorld of Warcraft. The mutual promotion between these two Blizzard franchises has been high ever sinceWorld of Warcraft’s first Annual Pass came bundled with Tyrael’s Charger, a copy ofDiablo 3, and an invitation to theMists of Pandariabeta. This time around, the offerings of HellconnectDiablo 4withDiablo Immortal,Diablo 3, andWorld of Warcraftby handing out four cosmetic items simply by preordering the standard edition of the game.
Diablo 4is set to launch on June 5in 2023, though a preorder will guarantee players access into its upcoming open beta. World of Warcraftplayers who purchaseDiablo 4can expect to have a new mount in their stables: the Amalgam of Rage. An internal creature that could roughly be described as a hunchback Cerberus with fiery wings, this flying mount that encapsulates the depravity of the Burning Hells may be the perfect contrast to Tyrael’s Charger introduced withDiablo 3in mind. In addition to the Amalgam, the standard edition ofDiablo 4will gift players Inarius' wings and a murloc pet inDiablo 3, as well as a cosmetics set forDiablo Immortal.
Other possible items that players can get with aDiablo 4preorder can be found in its collector’s edition – namely, the Temptation mount and Hellborn Carapacemount armor forDiablo 4, as well as the Wings of the Creator emote. Though the Amalgam of Rage mount forWorld of Warcraftis available now, an important distinction needs to be made regarding its long-term availability. No matter when players purchaseDiablo 4, even after the game launches in June, the mount will be theirs to own.
The Amalgam has an impressive amount of flair, as it features a unique casting animation that envelops the player in flames before the mount itself manifests in a fiery burst. Though it may be a while untilDiablo 4opens the doors to Sanctuary,World of Warcraftplayers may enjoy an early slice of hell as they prepare for thelaunch ofDragonflight’s Vault of the Incarnates raidon December 12.
