Summary
When talking about Cursed Techniques fromJujutsu Kaisen, one’s mind understandably starts to think about whoever has the strongest and most damaging technique. In a world filled with danger and bloodthirsty sorcerers, people need considerable offense to contend with such characters to keep themselves and their loved ones safe. However, some characters have Cursed Techniques that offer great defense as well.
Defensive Cursed Techniques are few and far between, but some of the characters who use them are among thestrongest sorcerers of all time, whether they belong to the modern era or have been reincarnated by Kenjaku in the Culling Game. Of all the defensive techniques inJujutsu Kaisen, Gojo’s Limitless stands in a realm of its own, so let’s see why Limitless is the best for defense, but also break down others that come close to it!

Cursed Child Arc
What is Limitless?
Limitless works as a technique that can manipulate different aspects of infinity. This leads to the technique having many offensive abilities on top of its inherent defensive ones, something that is really useful in the world ofJujutsu Kaisen. The first manipulation of infinity is called Lapse Blue, a power that essentially forms a small black hole that Gojo can control, which attracts things towards an infinite singularity and sucks up material in itself.
The other offensive attribute of Limitless is Technique Reversal Red, which flips the idea of Lapse Blue. By reversing the properties of Lapse Blue, Gojo essentially makes an attack with infinite repulsive force that pushes things out of its way. The strongest attack that Gojo can do with his Cursed Technique is Hollow Purple, which adds both infinities.

Infinity is something that’s naturally there. I just bring it into reality.
By merging the two infinities of attraction and repulsion, Gojo essentially creates a paradox. This move has properties of both Blue and Red, in that it attracts and repels at the same time, completely erasing everything in its path. Gojo also benefits from a rare gift called the Six Eyes, which lets him control and see the flow of Cursed Energy so well that he can use Limitless to its maximum potential.

How Limitless is Used Defensively
Despite its incredibly potent offensive abilities, Limitless truly shines in its defense. What is referred to as the ‘neutral’ state of Limitless is the technique known as Infinity, which is by far the greatest defensive technique in the entire series, and one of the best in anime. Infinity essentially creates an invisible forcefield in all directions around Gojo, not letting any attack or enemy get through it.
Infinity essentially takes the distance between Gojo and something else and divides it infinitely by itself, making time slow far slower the closer one gets to him. This ends up making it so the person or attack never reaches him, a property that he can even manipulate to be offensive, as was seen in how he killed a Special Grade Curse (Hanami) at the start of the Shibuya Incident.

The only known ways to get past this technique and hurt Gojo is through Domain Expansion or Domain Amplification. Though Domain Expansion can work against him, it still needs to be far stronger than his own power to do so, which he can still just negate with his own Domain. Domain Amplification is a far more reliable way of bypassing Infinity, though this is a technique that only the most powerful and knowledgeable sorcerers can pull off.
Itadori’s Extermination Arc
What is Kenjaku’s/Kaori’s Anti-Gravity System?
Kenjaku had quite a few techniques under his belt which he showcased in his battle against Yuki and Choso. One of these techniques he inherited aftertaking over Kaori Itadori’s body, called ‘Anti-Gravity System’, which can alter the way gravity affects things and people.
How Kenjaku’s/Kaori’s Anti-Gravity System is Used Defensively
In this same fight, Kenjaku’s usage of Kaori’s technique looked to work very similarly to Infinity, where he used Cursed Technique Reversal to affect an area around him in a defensive way. By reversing the anti-gravity properties of the technique, he greatly increases the level of gravity for 2 to 3 meters around him, preventing people from ever getting close to him, much like Infinity does for Gojo. However, it doesn’t stack up to Limitless as it needs to be manually activated, unlike Infinity, and some attacks can still get through.
Yurozu’sConstruction Gives Her Impeccable Defense
What is Yurozu’sConstruction?
Yurozu was an ancient sorcerer from the Heian Era who was one of the strongest characters in the history ofJujutsu Kaisen. She possessed the same technique as Mai Zenin, which was ‘Construction’, an ability that used her Cursed Energy to make certain objects and weapons, but to a much greater degree due to her immense Cursed Energy.
How Yurozu’s Construction is Used Defensively
In her fight against Sukuna, Yurozu proved herself to be an extremely adept and formidable sorcerer who gave the King of Curses a run for his money. By using Construction, she made an extremely durable and offensively powerful armor that took the form of a bug-like shell that was hardened to prevent taking too much damage while dishing out tons of it herself. The reason it can’t beat Limitless, however, is that if too much damage is taken, whatever Yurozu has constructed can get destroyed.
The Culling Game Arc
What is Uro’s Sky Manipulation?
Takako Uro is also an extremely powerful and ancient sorcerer from the Heian Era.Her technique is ‘Sky Manipulation’and it allows her to treat the sky like a tangible surface, one that she can grab and move around like it is a piece of cloth. This powerful technique also lets her fly effortlessly.
How Uro’s Sky Manipulation is Used Defensively
Sky Manipulation is unique in the sense that it not only serves as the perfect defense for Uro, but it can also give her the ability to perfectly execute a counter-attack by using her enemies’ attacks against them. Any offensive attack that is used against her, whether it is energy-based or physical, occupies a certain space within the sky; which is space that Uro can manipulate. By folding the sky, she can quite easily redirect her opponent’s attacks in their direction or even anywhere else, if she chooses.
