Werewolf By Nightis Marvel Studios' new “special presentation,” which is ushering in a new era for the cinematic universe. It won’t be a movie nor will it be a television series, so Marvel Studios is instead dubbing it as a “special presentation” due to its unique nature, and it may not be the last MCU project to do so.

Werewolf By NightisMarvel Studios' biggest step into the horror genre, as the world of this story will be much darker than in previous projects.Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnesswas their first step into the darker side of storytelling, as the movie blended lightheartedness with minor scenes of terror.

According toThe Cosmic Circus, Marvel Studios is considering developing more Special Presentations in place of the standard 6-9 episode series. According to the outlet, certainMCU projects for Disney Plusthat have already been reported on could be developed as Special Presentations, though precise titles were not named. UnlikeWerewolf by NightorThe Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, these new specials wouldn’t be tied to specific holidays. The intent is to develop MCU content Disney Plus that wouldn’t have to stretch out the storyline over multiple episodes.

It makes sense that Marvel Studios would want to make viewer engagement go up by abandoning the episodic format ofshows likeShe-Hulk. Many people don’t actually finish shows in general, as some people miss an episode or two and catch up later. With all of the content on streaming platforms, it’s harder for fans to be able to stay up to date with everything because their attention is continuously being fought over by entertainment industries. Special Presentations mean they’ll be able to get in and get out with less than an hour of time spent watching content.

This will cause more fans to be all caught up to date with everything going on in the world of the MCU rather than having fans being kept out of the loop because they didn’t finish a show or catch every episode of a series in its entirety. Hopefully moving forward, fans will be appreciative of this new format. It may also allow VFX staff to lighten the increasing workload that’s required from all of thecontent Marvel Studios is currently producing.

Many are championing Marvel Studios because they don’t want to see them fail, but only time will tell how their cinematic legacy looks once it’s all said and done. Hopefully moving forward, fans will be appreciative of this new format.
