Halo: Reachis nearly 12 years old, which means that the player base has nearly completely withered away at this point.Halo: Reachalong with the originalHalotrilogy has held a place in Xbox gamers' hearts for many years, as the series has become iconic in the gaming industry.
This is why many gamers were sad to hear thatXbox 360Haloservers would be shutting down. The games will still be playable viaHalo: The Master Chief Collection, however, it was still a sad moment as a whole generation of gamers played their firstHalogame on the Xbox 360. This nostalgia is what prompted some gamers to play their last few matches ofHalo Reachbefore the servers shut down for good. One player was, luckily, able to record their final moments in the game

TheXbox 360Haloservers were originally planned to shut down in December, but Microsoft decided to push this date into January. This gave some gamers just enough time to reminisce over these games as well as wrap up any outstanding achievements they may have neglected to complete over the years.
Players began to band together to help one another collect these achievements before the servers shut down for good. OneHalo 4player reached out to the community to help them collect their last achievement. The achievement in question entailed assassinating a ball carrier within 5 meters of a player’s own goal in the Ricochet game mode. One player happily offered himself up to be killed and then shared the clip on social media. Similar instances occurred inHalo 3as players joined forces to help each other gather their last achievements in the days leading up to the server shut down.
Heartwarming moments like these are what make theHalocommunity so special. Gamers can only hope that this attitude will carry over intoHalo: The Master Chief Collection.Sadly, the close-knit nature of the community will most likely not be present inHalo Infiniteconsidering that the game is free and playable on both Xbox and PC. The player base is therefore much larger than it has ever been in any of the previousHalogames before it. One can’t help but feel slightly sad that the multiplayer features in these games are no more as many gamers have fond memories of them.
