Popular Japanese streamer Meowko has received her fourthTwitchban in less than a year. The platform is well known for its confusing approach to bans that can seemingly strike anyone. Twitch streamer Meowko announced that she is submitting an appeal to this decision because she believes the reasons behind her ban are not legitimate.Meowko started streaming in 2019, entertaining her followers on Twitch by sharing moments of her life. She often streams in the Just Chatting category, talking with her fans, sharing gameplay snippets, or showing real-life moments in Japan. Thousands of people watch her streams, which usually last between four and eight hours. Meowko has gathered a community of about 300,000 followers who watch her regular IRL adventures on Twitch. This decision came as a surprise for the streamer and her followers, who didn’t understand the reasons behind her temporary removal from the platform. Meowko’s stream had lasted about three hours, during which the streamer decided to teach her viewers how to swim. She completed a challenge of swimming 50 meters within 30 seconds, before heading back inside and ending the stream.
This was enough for the platform to ban Meowko, as wearing a swimsuit is only allowed onTwitch when streaming at a hot tub, pool, or beach, but not when walking back inside to end a stream. Meowko submitted an appeal to contest the decision, but she will not be able to stream for one day, as her current Twitch ban will last for 24 hours.
It is not Meowko’s first experience being banned from the streaming platform. Twitch already suspended her account three other times over the last year, sometimes for obscure reasons. Her previous ban dates back to August 23, when one of her streams was massively reported by the LiveStreamFail community on Reddit, leading to her suspension from the streaming site. In March,Meowko received a banfrom Twitchfor cooking in her gym clothes after ending a workout session. The platform also claimed that Meowko was using an Augmented Reality avatar, despite the streamer using a selfie as her profile picture.
Fans have offered their sympathy to the streamer and judgedTwitch ban rulesto be too strict. However, if Meowko and her community are annoyed by these regular bans, the streamer should soon resume her activities as her suspension will end on October 20.
