It’s no secret that Creative Assembly, the studio behind the widely acclaimedTotal Warfranchise, is working on turningTotal War: Warhammer 3into a vast, sprawling content platform that hosts almost a decade’s worth of development in one campaign. The so-called “Immortal Empires” game mode will effectively combine the entire trilogy into a unified gameplay experience, and modularity is a crucial component of this project.
To that end, it was to be expected thatTotal War: Warhammer 3would get a whole library of extensive post-launch DLC to support Immortal Empires for years to come. Now, however, it looks like Creative Assembly may have just given its player base a first look at what some of this DLC might be as part of its recent developer Q&A live stream.

Viewers spotted the four previously unannounced factions at 9:55 of the 16-minute video, and it seems like the focus seems to fall squarely onTotal War: Warhammer 3’s Chaos deitiesfor now. The factions in question are Puppets of Misrule, Legion of the Gorequeen, The Ecstatic Legions, and the Fecundites, and precious little is known about them other than their titles and allegiances. Of course, one can assume that the Puppets of Misrule would fall under the rule of Tzeentch, but there’s no telling yet who their leaders might be.
Further still, it’s also worth pointing out that Creative Assembly hasn’t yet outright confirmed that these would be DLC factions. The community is reasonably sure of this, but it is recommended that fans keep a pinch of salt at hand about their implementation and specifics until the developers themselves push an official announcement. Something similar happened withthe dataminedTW: Warhammer 3Chaos Dwarf faction, which seems to have been notably absent from the “leaked” list.
Since Creative Assembly is activelyteasing the fans with Immortal Empires, it’s also entirely possible that the four new Chaos factions were deliberately featured as part of the Q&A stream as a way of hyping players up. It did take a keen eye to spot the unannounced factions, after all, and the company is known to drop hints about upcoming content for its ongoing titles every so often.
Whatever the case may be,Total War: Warhammer 3’s faction listis bound to grow larger still over the coming months and years. The upcoming Immortal Empires campaign promises to put most other grand strategy game modes to shame with the sheer breadth of content on show, and it looks like Creative Assembly may yet use the platform to virtualize all the important bits of the classicWarhammerfantasy tabletop.
Total War: Warhammer 3is available on Mac, Linux, and Windows PC. Immortal Empires launches on August 23.
