Respawn Entertainment co-founder and CEO, Vince Zampella, announces over Twitter thatTitanfall 2will have a day one patch, though the update itself may not be as big as many expect.

The wait for the next entry in the popularTitanfallfranchise is just about at an end asTitanfall 2launches worldwide this Friday, now on all current platforms. After an interesting summer which saw thecommunity become fractured somewhatover the changes in the first beta weekend, things have appeared to smooth over as more and more details have since emerged. With the game launch now imminent, release details have started to arrive including the news of a day one update similar to what most other games do these days. Unlike other titles however, the patch forTitanfall 2won’t take much time to download at all.

The news comes over from Respawn Entertainment co-founder and CEO Vince Zampella, who jokingly took to Twitter to announce the actual file size of the day one patch. While many games easily exceed a gigabyte of data these days,Titanfall 2will only require players to download an 88 MB patch. With an update that small, players should be online and dropping in thosenew titansin no time at all.

Unfortunately, news of what the day one patch contains has not been revealed, but considering the size, it’s probably not a whole lot. While the originalTitanfalldid experience a few hiccups on launch day, the team at Respawn appear to be very confident in the final product and have taken many steps toavoid any sort of online problemsat launch. This includes new cloud servers from Microsoft, Amazon, and more data centers around the world.

While day one patches are a common thing these days, these updates have seemingly become larger and larger, so hearing that a patch for an upcoming high profile game won’t take long to download should be good news. While the Rise of Iron expansion forDestinyrequired a day one patch, Bungie insteadbundled the data inside of Update 2.4, which released one week prior to the new game content. This way, players could download the patch and not have to worry about waiting for a bulky file to finish installing on launch day. Alternatively,Gears of War 4enabled digital pre-orders to alsodownload the day one patchprior to the game’s actual release date, though this benefit did not extend to fans who picked up a physical copy of the game.
