As WB Games Montreal continues to showcaseGotham Knightsin the lead-up to its release in October, the reaction and reception from fans remain mixed. Players who are familiar with theArkhamseries and prefer the style of combat conveyed throughout all three ofRocksteady Games' titles are not particularly excited about the release whilst a collection of other fans are.

Based on what WB Games Montreal has revealed so far along with its story confirmed to be separate from those previousGothamcentral games, it appears as though the combat styles and other aspects of theArkhamtrilogy will not be present as they look to create a much more unique experience for players.
7Beat Down Combat
One of the biggest praises theArkhamtrilogy received especially inArkham City, was its engaging and trend-setter style combat which saw many other combat-focused games follow suit with its counter mechanics. Along with this came the fast and brutal beat-down players were able to use it after unlocking it inArkham City, and having instant access to this at the start ofArkham Knight.
So far, all ofGotham Knights' trailers and gameplay reveals are yet to confirm whether this will be featured in the title, and some fans' disappointment has been centered on its combat opting for a dodge-style mechanic rather than the counter system most players are already familiar with.

6Boss Fights Similar To Arkham City
The boss fights in all ofArkham Citywere ones for fans to remember and remain one of the pivotal reasons for its high-level reception. IfWB Games Montreal intends to create engagingand thought-provoking boss fights to feature within their new title,Arkham Citywould be the main game to follow and emulate.
As its release edges closer, fans can expect to see more reveals and sections of gameplay, and perhaps even snippets of boss fights similar to the first revealshowcasing Mr. Freeze. Players will be excited to see the first looks of other DC villains and how pivotal their roles will be in this game.

5Thought-Provoking Detective Work
Throughout theArkhamtrilogy, players were able to fully step into the shoes of Bruce Wayne’s tech within the aspect of his detective work. This ranged from investigating murders at crime scenes to locating suspects through blood drops, and much more.
Fortunately for many fans of these features, the most recent gameplay showcase ofGotham Knightsrevealed this as a major presence in thegame whilst in control of Batgirl. This is one of the more promising reveals for many, as they hope to see more later down the line.

4Challenge Mode
Taking the idea of practice and replayability into consideration, the challenge modes in all ofArkhamgames were a great addition to add onto the fun experiences players had with the story modes. Not only did fans have the opportunity to master combat but were able to use a plethora of characters aside from Batman to take foes on.

This is one of the more important factors for WB Games Montreal to contemplate, whether it is a mode which is set to release with the base game, or if there are any plans to implement this in the aftermath as potential DLC for players to engage in.
3Gadgets
Some of thegadgets featured in the Arkham trilogy were highly beneficial to players' gameplay experiences, as they gave them to incentive to use different approaches and tactics to defeat enemies. Other than the hand-to-hand combat which is a prominent factor in these games given the genre, the addition of gadgets was plausible as it opened the door to unique combat styles.
Considering the fact thatGotham Knightswill be focusing on Batman’s sidekicks and apprentices, it is likely gadgets may be omitted completely in attempts to shift gameplay to a more unique style, or they will be used according to each character’s fighting style.

2Stealth
A massive part of the characters' traits players will be following inGotham Knightsand may have already seen in theArkhamtrilogy, are sometimes central on the idea of a stealthy approach. Rocksteady Games made stealth an important part of their titles, as some enemies would be equipped with firearms, leaving players with no choice but to take caution.
Maintaining this will address the matters of the game’s difficulty, and WB Games Montreal would do fans a favor if they are able to improve stealth to an even greater extent than theArkhamtrilogy. Expanding on this could possibly alleviate criticisms of there being a lack of variety in combat options.

1Fear Multi-Takedown
Despite the criticismArkham Knightreceived for its overuse of the Batmobile, one of the game’s innovations which stood out was the “fear multi-takedown” players could use to pick apart their enemies in classic Batman fashion. This heavily suited the context ofArkham Knight, as fans who are familiar with the character will be aware of his tactic of using enemies' fear to his advantage.
So far, it is unknown whether Batman will make an appearance in the game regardless of what is portrayed in trailers, similar to Square Enix’s reveal of theirMarvel’sAvengers, which led many to believe Captain America was dead. If players are only able to use Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Red Hood, it is unlikely this will be a feature but is also very dependent on how WB Games Montreal wishes to go about this.

Gotham Knightswill release 25th October on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
