Developer Mane6 and publisher Modus Games announced the cancelation on aSteam update post, confirming that after Season 1 ofThem’s Fightin' Herdsreaches its conclusion, further development will cease. This means that while players will get the last newcharacters inThem’s Fightin' Herds, the Story Mode that had been planned for the game is now canceled. As part of the statement, the studio said, “Story Mode has always been an ambitious feature and one we truly desired to implement. We know how much our fans have been looking forward to Story Mode chapters, and we hope you understand how much we looked forward to working on and releasing them.”
It seems the cancelation was a recent decision, as the statement does go on to confirm that Season 2 was being worked on, and the developer is working on methods to deliver content already produced. Regardless, players of theindie gameare not happy with the news in the slightest. Its recent reviews on Steam are marked as “Mostly Negative,” despite the overall consensus remaining “Very Positive.” The reviews themselves are scathing, with one reading, “thank god I wasn’t a backer,” while another user said, “Yet another unfinished product. It’s been a tough time in the games industry lately, withlayoffs at companies as big as Ubisoft. For smaller companies such as Mane6, staying above water in such an environment will always prove difficult, especially with no major release in sight to boost sales.
