The Witcher 3’scombat system gets a unique overhaul asBloodborne’sparry mechanic comes to the game.Bloodborneis one of the most popular games from FromSoftware’s Soulsborne franchise, and fans love it for a multitude of reasons including its eerie setting, quick combat, and new mechanics. WhileBloodborneremains popular, fan requests for the game to be remastered or brought to PC often fall on deaf ears, leaving it up to modders to include their favorite aspects of the title into other releases.
Already, plenty of modders have broughtBloodborneinto other games, with many focusing on bringing the Lovecraftian-inspired world into title from the Soulsborne franchise. Fear the Old Blood, anambitious mod forDark Souls 3, overhauled lighting, textures, outfits and more to alter the atmosphere of the original game and give it aBlodbornefeel. While Fear the Old Blood is a complete overhaul, mods that add aBloodbornecrossover usually add the game’s key combat mechanic in its parrying.

This is exactly what the Bloodborne Gun Parry and Execution mod by Mugijang does forThe Witcher 3. Parrying does exist inThe Witcher 3’scombat, but unlikeBloodborne, it doesn’t instantly set up an opponent for a devastating attack, something that the Bloodborne Gun Parry and Execution mod changes. Also, Geralt uses a sword for his parries, while Mugijang’s mod instead gives him a gun. It might not be the most lore-friendly option to give Geralt a firearm to help him defeat his foes, but it brings the combat closer to that players would experience inBloodborne.
While this doesn’t giveThe Witcher 3a completeBloodborneoverhaul, it is a mod that shifts up the combat of the former game substantially, making it more about Geralt getting those parries in so he can set opponents up for devastating, high-damage attacks. The Bloodborne Gun Parry and Execution mod is available now on the Nexus, and it joins a whole host ofother mods forThe Witcher 3which can give the seven-year-old game a fresh coat of paint.
Hopefully, fans won’t have to changeThe Witcher 3through modding for much longer, and they’ll have a new experience to enjoy soon enough. CD Projekt Red does have anext-gen version ofThe Witcher 3in the works and despite delays it still appears the game could be releasing towards the end of this year. Moreover, for those wanting to depart completely fromThe Witcher 3but still see Geralt’s story, a remake of the original 2009The Witcheris in the works.
The Witcher 3: Wild Huntis available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
