EA brings supernatural beings back toThe Sims 4, announcing plans to release a game pack entirely devoted to playable vampires, as well as a new vampire-friendly locale.

AlthoughTheSims 4manages to maintain freshness through a variety of fan-made content, major gameplay additions and changes still come in the form of official expansions. The newest upcoming game pack to add content toThe Sims 4has now been officially announced.

EAhas now revealed that the next DLC to be released forThe Sims 4will beThe Sims 4 VampiresGame Pack. Players will be able to convert their Sims into vampires, which will have their own sets of needs and motives. As with the vampires in priorSimsgames, vampires will be able to subsist off of the plasma taken from non-vampire Sims or from plasma fruit, which can be grown in gardens. The developer is also including a new array of options for Create a Sim for players to customize their Sims as they see fit.

In addition,The Sims 4 VampiresGame Pack will include a new World: Forgotten Hollow. The area is designed to be more spooky and atmospheric than traditional Sims locales, likeGranite Falls. In addition, nighttime lasts longer in Forgotten Hollow, which should allow sun-fearing vampire Sims to accomplish more per day than in the previous games. More details on the game pack are slated to release in the weeks to come, and the game pack will be available on January 24th.

Vampire Sims were originally introduced to the franchise inTheSims 2Nightlifeexpansion. They were also brought back in theSims 3, although there were some key differences between the two.The Sims 4’s take on vampires looks to be somewhat of a return toTheSims 2, as vampires in both games bear a stronger resemblance to the iconic, fanged creatures than they did inThe Sims 3. However, at this time it remains unclear if vampires inThe Sims 4will be as vulnerable to sunlight as they were inThe Sims 2, or if they simply suffer mood damage and smoking visual effects as they did inTheSims 3 Late Night.

The supernatural has had a place inThe Simsseries since the very first game, and it looks like EA has no plans to change that. It remains to be seen ifThe Sims 4will eventually receive an expansion adding magic, as in prior iterations of the game. If demand is strong enough, it may happen, given that popular demand was partially responsible forghosts coming back toThe Sims4and alien abductions following in theGet To Workexpansion.

The Sims 4 VampiresGame Pack will release on January 24th for Mac and PC.
