From dangerous and powerful individuals like Vetto and Rhya tomerciless demonslike Zagred and Magicula, there are so many iconic villains in the world ofBlack Clover. Every single one of them has unique magical abilities and also different motives behind their actions as a villain.
That said, none of them can compare to one particular family in the series. They are called the Zogratis family, and they are easily the most evil family inBlack Clover.
Who Is The Zogratis Family
The Zogratis are a family that lived in the Spade Kingdom. At this point, there’s not much information regarding the origin of this family. One thing’s for sure, the parents were not in the picture for some reason. So rather than the Zogratis family, it’s actually more appropriate to call them the Zogratis siblings. The eldest brother is Lucius Zogratis, followed by Dante Zogratis, and then a younger sister called Vanica Zogratis, finally, the youngest brother is Zenon Zogratis.
In the absence of their parents, the one who leads the family isthe eldest son, Lucius Zogratis,who was bound to a wheelchair at the time. He was a kind and wise man who looked after his younger siblings as best as he could. Behind closed doors, however, things were way different. Lucius wholeheartedly believes that humans with powerful magic is the perfect being. In his eyes, there are too many “flawed beings” in this world, such as non-human races like elves or even humans that he considers to be weak. So it is his duty to cleanse the world out of these flaws in order to create a perfect world.
The Zogratis were a family obsessed with devils and had managed at some point in the past to summon and bound a supreme devil called Astaroth of Time Magic. With their knowledge of devil possession, there have been numerous Zogratis who managedto become devil hosts, but none of them can contain Astaroth in their bodies. That is until Lucius came along and became the devil host for Astaroth. With this newfound power, he sealed other powerful devils inside his siblings and formulated a complex plan to take over the world and get rid of those whom he deems as flawed creatures.
The first and biggest achievement of the Zogratis siblings was taking over their homeland, the Spade Kingdom. For generations, the Spade Kingdom was led byan unbroken line of royal families called the House Grinberryall. The king and queen at the time were kind and compassionate towards their people, which made them the first target of Lucius. He plotted a plan to cause chaos and forcefully took over the kingdom from the royal family. Killing countless people in the process.
Although the one who came up with this plan was Lucius Zogratis, the ones who executed it were actually his younger siblings, Dante, Vanica, and Zenon. All of them possessunique and terrifying magic that allows them to manipulate certain aspects of their body.
Dante was born with body magic, Vanica has blood magic, while Zenon has bone magic. When these three became devil hosts, those powers increased exponentially. It didn’t take a long time for them to take over the entire Spade Kingdom.
Dante is the host ofthe demon King Lucifero, the one who can manipulate gravity. Vanica is the host of Megicula, the one who possesses curse-warding magic. Zenon is the host of Beelzebub, the one who wields the most powerful spatial magic in the world. Together, these three siblings are known as the Dark Triad. As the eldest of the three, Dante appointed himself as the new king of the Spade Kingdom, with his brother and sister as his most trusted adviser. After killing every supporter of the Grinberryall family, they formed their version of the military, consisting purely out of their most loyal supporters. Together, they rule the Spade Kingdom with an iron fist.
Lucius Zogratis And The Clover Kingdom
Lucius was not present when his siblings took over the Spade Kingdom. At the time, he was in the Clover Kingdom, living asthe current Wizard King, Julius Novachrono. You see, Lucius was born with two souls in his body. The kind and wise Julius Novachrono who adores magic and wants to see the people of the world prosper through magic, and the heartless and vicious Lucius Zogratis who wants to cleanse the world from those whom he considers as lesser beings.
Lucius was born with Soul Magic. This ability allows him to manipulate the souls of every living thing, including his own. When he sealed Astaroth,the devil who rules over time, he gained an insight into what would happen in the future. That’s when he realized that in order to execute his grand plan, he needed to surrender his body to Julius. When the time is right and every piece has finally fallen to the right place, he will take his body back from Julius, and begin the cleansing.
A year and three months after Asta and the other magic knights from the Clover Kingdom defeated the Dark Triad, specifically right after the Royal Awarding Ceremony, Lucius appeared in front of Asta and struck him down, sending him to the faraway continent with a life-threatening wound. After that, with the combination of Soul Magic and Time Magic, Lucius mercilessly defeats the other powerful magic knights at the Royal Palace. Once he gets rid ofthe captains and the most powerful members of the Magic Knights,the killing spree finally begins.
In the short time since he takes his body back from Julius, Lucius has killed countless innocent people in the Clover Kingdom. And he will continue this genocide beyond the border of Clover Kingdom unless somebody stops him. That’s pretty much where the current story left off.
