Summary
As far as overpowered protagonists and characters go, not many anime series do it better thanThe Misfit of Demon King Academyseries. The series revolves around the tyrannical Demon King, Anos Voldigoad, who, after centuries of war between humans and demons, grew tired of the constant bloodshed and willingly sacrificed his life in hopes of being reborn to a world of peace.
What follows in his absence is the creation of the Demon King Academy, an institution created with the sole purpose of identifying thereincarnation of the Demon King. After two millennia, Anos reincarnates, but to his surprise, he has been reborn to a world where the level of magic as he remembers has drastically decreased. Discontent with his new reality, Anos sets out to correct this world, and his starting point will be the Demon King Academy. The series' cast turn out to be more relatable than most fantasy series. Therefore, this piece delves into the cast and details that typically would be missed by viewers to give a better understanding of each main character.
Character Chart
The series starts off with the spotlight pointing to the overly confident Anos. However, characters like Misha, Sasha and Lay begin to share in the attention as the series' events begin to deepen. With stabilization returning somewhat to Azeshion and Dilhade, the series has introduced a number of new faces to continue alongside Anos on his mission to once again cement his title as the Demon King of Tyranny from any future challengers.
Shin Reglia
Founder Of The Unitarians
The right-hand man of the Demon King, Anos Voldigoad, Shin Reglia, isthe most powerful swordsmanamong the demon race and husband to the Great Spirit Reno. Usually calm and eerily composed in most situations, Shin is incredibly strong.
Still, according to Anos, he is a man of low ambitions, as is shown by his faithful service to the Demon King during the Great War. Shin appears emotionless and bland due to his stoic demeanor; however, he has great affection for his wife and daughter, as he never hesitates to protect either, whenever the situation requires it.
Lay Glanzudlii
The Demon Swordsmaster
The reincarnation of the hero, Kanon, Lay Glanzudlii, is a member of the Cohorts of Chaos and a transfer student at the Demon King Academy. Despite being incredibly powerful and a pureblood demon, Lay is a relatively friendly and relaxed person, an uncommon trait among demon royals.
Lay considers both the Royalist and Unitarian ideals tedious and bothersome and would rather spend time mastering the sword. However, due to his innate talent, he has also gotten bored of battles, as he has won every one of his battles. However, his boredom disappeared after meeting Anos, as for the first time, he finally found an opponent whom he could go all out against.
Emilia Ludowell

Once a pureblood demon, Emilia Ludowell was the homeroom teacher of Anos' class. However, after she attempts to kill Anos' mother, she is turned into a mixed-blood demon by Anos himself, which leads to her dismissal from the Demon King Academy.
As a pureblood demonand royalty, Emilia was highly biased against her mixed-blood students, as she took great pride in her pure blood. Unable to accept as being anything other than pure blood, Emilia’s convictions are shaken to their roots after her reincarnation as a mixed-blood demon when other royals almost kill her, and she’s saved by Isabella, whom she tried to kill before. Her near-death experience further changes her perception of the mixed-blood demons and herself.
Zeshia Bianca
The First Zeshia Clone
A transfer student of the Hero Academy, Zeshia Bianca is the only Zeshia clone under the direct care of their mother and creator, Eleonore Bianca. Due to being a humanoid, Zeshia’s ability to express herself is limited due to an emphasis on her combat-oriented nature. However, Eleonore is teaching her more about communicating and interacting with others.
As a humanoid, Zeshia is among the most powerful of her cloned self, possessing superhuman speed and agility alongside an immense magical power output. She is capable of all that while maintaining an expert level of swordsmanship, as shown during her altercation with Anos.
Misa Lliorogue
The Demon King Avos
The President of the Anos Fan Union, Misa Lliorogue, is the daughter of Shin Reglia and the Great Spirit Reno. Also, a classmate of Anos, Misa, is a rather cheery and generally upbeat individual who likes to help others.
Due to wanting tomeet her father, Shin Reglia, Misa joined the Unitarians under the guise of wanting to change the organization’s current structure. Despite her outwardly fragile appearance, Misa is quite brave, as she was willing to sacrifice herself to heal Lay’s mother. Although she shares a split individuality with Avos Dilhevia, the pair couldn’t be more different from each other.
Eleonore Bianca
The Mother Of Sources
An exchange student from the Hero Academy, Eleonore Bianca is a member of the selective class of Jerga-Kanon and a classmate of Anos. Eleonore is also a humanoid created as one side of Jerga’s source. Despite being a humanoid, Eleonore is rather friendly and easygoing in a motherly manner, as shown through her interactions with Anos and Sasha.
However, her friendly personality is more or less a facade due to her severe guilt from being forced to make source clones. As a humanoid, Eleonore possesses an impressive amount of magic power, which makes her extremely dangerous in tandem with her understanding of source magic.
Misha Necron
Descendant of One of The Seven Demon Elders
Quiet and shy, Misha Necron is a direct descendant of Ivis Necron and sister to the Witch of Destruction. Compared to her sister, Misha is not very assertive and is closed off due to being labeled a ‘magic doll.’, which led to her being isolated and avoided by other demons while growing up.
Despite knowing she would cease to exist on her 15th birthday, she still wished to create good memories with the people around her, specifically Sasha and Anos. As a demon, Mish is more than formidable, as she already hadgreater magic capacitythan most students before the entrance exam. Proficient in using creation magic, Misha’s abilities truly shine through her observation skill and magic eyes, as she’s even able to see the thoughts and feelings of others.
Sasha Necron
The Witch Of Destruction
The sixth generation heir to the Necron Family, Sasha isMisha’s older twin sister, and she possesses the Magic Eyes of Destruction, which have the ability to make anything self-destruct, earning her the nickname the Witch of Destruction. Sasha takes great pride in her family heritage and her own magical abilities, so she initially comes off as arrogant and somewhat aggressive when she feels belittled by others.
However, beyond her brashness, she is a competent and decisive strategist, as shown in her team match against Anos. Sasha has difficulty expressing her feelings and emotions, as shown in her initial treatment of Sasha, where it appears she hates Misha. However, the opposite is true, as she only tries to protect Misha. Her emotions become more apparent after Anos saves Misha from disappearing, making Sasha indebted and grateful to him.

The titular protagonist, The Misfit of Demon King Academy, Anos, is theextremely powerful demon kingwho gave up his life to separate the world into four during the mythical age. Reincarnated into the present world, Anos finds that the world no longer possesses the level of magic he left behind, leading him to enroll in the Demon King Academy. Extremely confident, arrogant, and resolute, Anos possesses absolute power over magic, making him invincible against any opponent.
Beyond his arrogance, Anos is also rather easygoing and will only act in the interest of family, friends, or subordinates. Despite being known as the Demon King Of Tyranny, Anos has a definitive moral compass and does not act indiscriminately, even though he has the power to. However, his methods of dealing with his enemies earn him his infamous title. As the Demon King, Anos is unrivaled through the series, with no opponent able to cause him any considerable distress.
