Snaktooth Island is a wonderous place, filled with friendly faces, colorful environments, delicious treats, and…imminent danger? Between conflicts among the grumps and the mysterious Snaxsquatch sightings, perhapsSnaxburg isn’t as fun and carefreeas it first appears to be. The world ofBugsnaxis a curious one, uncovering increasingly puzzling clues as the player makes their way through the game.
With all the twists and turns Lizbert and Eggabell’s tale takes the player on, it can be easy to miss a few hidden gems here and there. As overwhelming as the beautiful island of Snaktooth is, it’s important to take inevery painstaking detail developers addedfor fans.

Updated August 10, 2025, by Christine Mendoza:After the addition of thefree Isle Of BIGsnax DLC, Bugsnax fans have an entire new island to explore; and with a new area of course comes new secrets to unveil. The new DLC allows players to explore the exciting new island: Broken Tooth. On this island are strange new bugsnax, along with giant versions of ones already found on Snaktooth Island. This new area is vast and introduces new tools, environments, puzzles, bugsnax, and new journeys and challenges tohelp fellow grumpusesout with. Not only does the Isle Of BIGsnax DLC bring new content with the new island, but also unlocks new secrets on Snacktooth Island as well.

12Shrinking Spice Can Be Brought & Used In Different Locations
The one most noticeable caveat about the addition of the Shrink Spice is that it runs on a timer. Unlike thehandy sauces that can be pickedand stocked in the player’s inventory until it’s needed, the Shrink Spice must be used before the timer runs out. Because of this, certain bugsnax cannot be caught until a nearby Shrink Spice spawn location is unlocked.
However, in the case of any players getting stuck on a certain puzzle, have no fear, with a quick pace, a Shrink Spice jar can be taken to another location and used there. If the player has a Shrink Spice spawn in an adjacent location to the bugsnak they wish to capture, they most definitely can! Just ensure to run and take any shortcuts to ensure making it to the target on time.
11Some Bugsnax Are Essential To Certain Puzzles
Sometimes the most helpful secrets are the ones that don’t seem truly hidden at all. All over Snaktooth and Broken Tooth Island, there are certain bugsnax that need bugsnax nearby in order to be caught. On occasion, abugsnak must be extinguished, stunned, or knocked outbefore being able to be safely captured.

The Cheddaboardle Rex boss fight at the end of the new DLC is one of the more obvious instances of having a nearby bugsnak to use as a means to disarm a more threatening one before capturing it. However, in other places around Snaktooth/Broken Tooth Island, these instances aren’t as obvious. ensure to assess the environment before accidentally capturing a bugsnak that may be essential to the capture of another!
However, if players do find themselves stuck, simply reloading back into the area should respawn the bugsnax to remedy the situation.
10The Triangle Key & The Triplicate Space
After finishing the main quest over on the new Broken Tooth Island DLC, the player has a chance to go back and adventure freely before heading back to Snaktooth. If the Triangle Key hasn’t already been found, it’s definitely worth going back for.
In the Ancient Ruins on Broken Tooth, there is a large door in the back of the cave where the player first ventures through with Triffany. Afterlighting the three unlit Ancient Flaresinside the cave with the tripshot tool, the doors will open, revealing the Triangular Room. Inside, there lies amysterious Triangle Keythat seemingly has no use until back on Snaktooth.
After returning to Snaktooth Island, the player can head over to the area behind Floofty’s ship in Boiling Bay to unlock the elusive Triplicate Space. It seems as if Snorpy’s paranoia over the shady Grumpinati isn’t all in his head after all!
9The Secret Bugsnak
Although the player can receive a small gift in the mail from Filbo as a reward for catching one of every bugsnak on Snaktooth Island, there is actually one more elusive little snak that has apparently flown under the radar.
Inside the Triplicate Space, the player will encounter theone and only Cappucceetle; the fastest bugsnak of all time. The elusive Cappucceetle will flee from one area on the map to another once spooked and is completely immune to the Snak Trap. However, its escape route is predictable and is on a set rotation.
This little bugsnak is the mysterious researcher Alegander Jamfoot’s best bud on Snaktooth and has been fittingly nicknamed Joey Quickbeans.
8Protagonist’s Fur Colour Can Vary
Although theBugsnaxprotagonist can never truly be seen as the player can only really catch glimpses of their hands and shadow, it may come as a surprise that the main character’s color can change. Upon creating new save files, players may notice that the grumpus on the save file varies in color.
Does this mean something for the overall story ofBugsnax? Maybe this is a cute detail developers decided to add into the game, or perhaps this is an important indication of each protagonist being different grumpuses entirely. The intricacy of thelore behind Snaktooth Island is never to be underestimated.
7Cromdo Number 1 Dad
Apparently, this business grump has a family waiting for him back home. After convincing him to return to Snaxburg with the others, players are free to explore his hut. Once Cromdo’s settled in, he will have his small collection of ties on display. Not only does this hint toward his interest in music he mentions at the end of the game with the piano tie he has hanging, but also it reveals that hehas a child (or children). Perhaps all his hustling and less than honest business practices were all for the sake of providing for his family all along.
6Summon A Bugsnak For Breakfast
Some bugsnax require specific circumstances to be seen; some need rain,some need the cover of night, and others need to be summoned. In Simmering Springs, one tricky bugsnak needs to be called to catch it. The elusive Waffstackarak will only appear once the player rings Wiggle’s triangle found by her old campsite. Once it is rung during the daytime, two Waffstackaraks will emerge out of the ocean, ready for breakfast time.
5Death By Snaxsquatch
This monster isn’t all talk. After hearing Beffica and the others go on about a scary monster made entirely out of bugsnax early on in the game, the player finally comes face to face with the mysterious creature in the last explorable area. Players first encounterthe infamous Snaxsquatchwhen they first fall into the depths of The Undersnax. When turning a corner, the Snaxsquatch can be seen grimacing which makes for a great time to scan it for a quick trophy/achievement.
However, if the player chooses to wander off when Filbo leads the way to Eggabell, a small unique cutscene plays where the horrifying Snaxsquatch charges at the player, resulting in a quick reset.
4Taking Advantage Of Infinite HP
Being a master of the elements is key to catching specific bugsnax that live in certain areas; touch an ice-cold Bopsicle, freeze and they get away.Bump into a Flaming Cheepoof, and now flames are everywhere!

It’s essential to be resourceful in “extinguishing” any threats before being able to catch these tricky snax. However, sometimes the trusty tripwire is just too cumbersome to use. Some players may not notice right away that any source of heat can cool off a freezing enemy; including the very unfortunate protagonist’s body. Instead of using tools, sometimes it’s as simple as sacrificing one’s body to catch that one bugsnak that always manages to get away.
3Transform Gramble
Gramble isn’t like the rest of the grumpuses in Snaxburg. He sees bugsnax as cute little friends, not food. His barn full of bugsnax (donated by the player) is considered his family, and it goes to say he never indulges like the others. However, if the player happens to be roaming around Snaxburg during nighttime, theymight notice Gramble sleepwalking. If the player decides to not wake him, they then have the (rather cruel) option of feeding a still asleep Gramble some bugsnax without him knowing.
