Summerset Isle

Home of the Altmer, or High Elves, Summerset Isle is an archipelago province off the coast of mainland Tamriel consisting of three main islands: Summerset, Auridon, and Artaeum.Summerset Isle has a rich historyand is believed to be the landing place of the Mer, a collective term for the elven races that include the Altmer, Bosmer, Dunmer, and Orsimer. Summerset Isle is famous for housing two of the most well-known groups in Tamriel, the Thalmor and the Psijic Order.

Valenwood

The closest mainland province to Summerset Isle, Valenwood is home to the Bosmer (Wood Elves) and mainly consists of a large, uninhabited forests. Many rumors have circulated throughout Tamriel that the Aldmeri Dominion began “cleansing” Valnewood, which would result in conflict between the Bosmer and Altmer - something Bethesda could explore in a future game. The people of Valenwoodlive under the rule of the Camoran Dynasty, which unified the Bosmer during the First Era and is one of the oldest empires in Tamriel.

Elsweyr

Neighboring Valenwood is the province of Elsweyr, home to the Khajiit and a land consisting of deserts in the North and dense jungles in the South. Currently part of the Empire,Elsweyr has one of the richest histories in all of Tamrielgiven Khajiit history can be traced back to the Merethic Era. With two different landscapes, Elsweyr’s society has been divided into those that live in the desert and those that reside in the jungles.

Black Marsh

Also known as Argonia, the Black Marsh is home to the Argonians: a race of lizard people who reside within the swamplands. The Black Marsh is also home to the Hist, a rare sentient species of trees that share a hive mind and were once believed to be widespread throughout the mortal plane. Out of all the provinces in Tamriel,The Black Marsh remains the most mysterious, as the swampy terrain makes it nearly impossible for travelers to traverse. The province also experiences a unique type of rain that is foul smelling and has a yellow-brown color.

Mainland Morrowind

Morrowind is a province that has been explored inThe Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, but that game only took place in the island region of Vvardenfell. Mainland Morrowind is currently the home of the Dunmer, or Dark Elves, and was once home to the Dwemer. This gives Morrowind a unique position inThe Elder Scrollsseries since the Dwemer have been dead for some time, but their inventions and settlements remain. Fans could explore the history of the Dwemer in a game set in Mainland Morrowind. The province was also heavily affected during the Red Year; when the Red Mountain erupted, sending earthquakes and tsunamis across Morrowind.

The Elder Scrollsseries still has many provinces of Tamriel to explore, each of which would give fans a different reason to be excited. With Hammerfell potentially serving as the next main location, much of the Southern part of the continent remains unexplored and could give fans more insight into the history of the people of Tamriel. Wherever Bethesda decides to set future titles, there is a lot to learn from the remaining provinces, some of which share history with other continents that could lead to an expansion overseas.
