Xenoblade Chronicles 3has an easy enough story to understand at the base level. Two warring nations want to kill each other but two parties from both sides of the war team up when they find out not everything is as it seems. The narrative is intriguing, but the cast characters help make the overall game truly great.

For example, the main character, Noah, is an easy character to empathize with more so than the last game’s hero, Rex. Fromthe playable castto NPCs, there is someone here to like inXenoblade Chronicles 3for everyone. To rank the best heroes and villains, there will be spoilers.
8Riku
The Nopon race has been kind of a joke since they debuted inXenoblade Chronicles. They have been the comic relief characters in the series much like the Gungans in the Star Wars prequels. Riku is a Nopon inXenoblade Chronicles 3but he is different from the rest of his kind.
Riku may look and talk silly, but his deep voice can throw fans for a loop. This Nopon has it together and helps Noah with a lot of helpful advice. He knows more than he lets on.

7Consul D
There are many Consuls the party goes after inXenoblade Chronicles 3but Consul D starts it all. He attacks Noah and Mio’s teams, thus solidifying their bond together to fight as one. Activating the stone also helps them bond more as Noah and Mio fuse to create thefirst mech-like transformationin the game.
Consul D returns several times over and is somehow more vicious each time he appears onscreen. What exactly is he after and does the party finally end his reign by the time the credits roll?

6Cammuravi
Cammuravi has a small part in the game at first as Ethel’s rival. He is known throughout the Keves and Agnus armies as someone not to mess with. He shows his power in battle several times but the coolest moment involves him removing his eye.

He is so dedicated to fighting Ethel on a level playing field that he would rather remove his eye than be brainwashed by the Consuls. If that doesn’t sound badass then it’s hard to say what is. He has a bittersweet end after this battle but it’s not the last time Cammuravi appears. The hype train only gets louder from here for thisnoble samurai-like warrior.
5Ghondor
Ghondor might sound like a strong male knight or some kind of wizard from The Lord of the Rings, but she is a human warrior within the Ouroboros rebel compound. The party first meets her in prison and are also surprised by her stature. She soon proves that she has the mouth and stature of a sailor, making the name Ghondor fit her well.
Like many characters inXenoblade Chronicles 3, she puts on a grim face to mask what lies beneath. She’s got a lot of bark and bite but she is sweet on the inside as well. She would feel right at home ina brawler gamethanks to her stone-hard fists.

4Valdi
Valdi is the first guest character that players will unlock on a permanent basis. Ethel is technically the first but she disappears from the party quickly. Valdi is the leader of Colony 30 and also throws the party for a loop as he looks like a child. He proves he is capable as a healer in battle and that his skills as a Levnis builder is unmatched.
It’s a shame he doesn’tbuild any robotsor mechs for the party to jump into but he is still a cool character overall. Valdi has a sweet moment regarding his latest project that Consul Q tries to destroy at the end of his character quest.

3Taion
Taion and Lanz don’t think it’s a good idea to join forces at first. As pigheaded as Lanz can be, he warms up pretty fast after he sees Sena can hold her own in battle. It takes longer for Taion to be won over by Noah and his friends.

He is the strategist of the group so it makes sense for him to be hesitant on joining forces with an enemy he has been fighting for years. Taion slowly starts to grow on Noah’s party and fans will grow to love him as well. Funnily enough, he looks a lot like a darker-skinnedversion of JokerfromPersona 5.
2Mio
Mio has one of the best arcs in the game which makes sense as she is the female lead. She struggles a good portion of the game being afraid of dying. Her number gives her only three months to live. The more the party travels, the less sure she is about her duty.
Should she abandon the journey to find the Ouroboros city or should she take in what few days she has left and relax? What happens to her is a big twist inXenoblade Chronicles 3which will not be spoiled here but let’s just say it’s a hard one to see coming. Also, who doesn’t love a cat girl in an anime or game?

1Noah
Noah is the male lead ofXenoblade Chronicles 3and is the flip side of Mio’s coin. As a protagonist, he is a great character in the series. He has remorse about killing which makes him, unlikemany other RPGheroes. He’s not gung-ho about fighting or adventuring around the world and he isn’t a complete crybaby about fighting either.
Noah is dedicated to his friends and the duty that was thrust upon him by the magical stones that gave his crew powers. However, he still doesn’t want to kill anyone who gets in his way. Noah has morals and sticks to them on his quest to change the world for the better.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3was released on Jun 05, 2025, and is available on Switch.
