A habit that you’ll want to get into while playingStardew Valleyis to forage anything you see. Materials gathered from the wild can be used to craft devices that will greatly improve your life on the farm. You’ll also need various items for side quests, and one of these is theCave Carrot.

The Cave Carrot isn’t something that can be grown on the farm. You must brave the depths of the Mines in Pelican Town to look for one. Cave Carrots can restore some health and energy if you’re in a pinch, but you may want to keep them in your bag.

Where to Find Cave Carrots

Under Dirt and Crates

you may get Cave Carrots in the mines by using theFarming Hoeorbreaking crates. As you descend, you’ll occasionally spawn on a floor withpatches of dirt(Floors 1-30) similar to the dirt you use for planting crops. If you use the farming hoe on the dirt in the MInes, you’ll occasionally dig up items.You can get Clay or even Artifactsfor the Museum, but you could also dig up a Cave Carrot.

If you’re on the “Frozen Earth” floors (Floors 40-70), you may see white crates. These can be broken by using your weapon. They’ll sometimes drop a Cave Carrot, but you may also get special Fertilizers or Mixed Seeds.

Crates also spawn on Floors 1-30 and Floors 80+.

Foraging Bundle & Side Quests

If you’re trying to complete the Community Center in Pelican Town, then you’ll want to put aside a Cave Carrot. You’ll needfive itemsfor the Exotic Foraging Bundle (located in the Crafts Room), and Cave Carrot is one of the nine items that you can offer. Since Cave Carrots are common, it’s recommended to use one for this particular Bundle.

If you checkthe bulletin board by Pierre’s store, someone may put up a request for a Cave Carrot. Delivering the requested item will increase your friendship with them.

If you manage to get3 Friendship Heartswith Marnie, you’ll receive a letter from her in the mail. This formally starts “Marnie’s Request,” which has no deadline, so you’re able to take as long as you need to complete it. Doing so will add 100 Friendship Points towards Marnie. verify the Cave Carrot is in your inventory, then visit Marnie’s Ranch (south of your farm) when she’s there. Like every other NPC inStardew Valley,Marnie has her own schedule, so you’ll want to drop by within visiting hours.
