While Electronic Arts and DICE are likely to keep the most exciting information aboutStar Wars Battlefront 2secret until E3, the publisher and developer have provided a bit of good information already about the sci-fi shooter sequel. Most recently,Star Wars Battlefront 2game designer Christian Johannesén revealed on Twitter that gamers will be able to unlock all the content from the Deluxe Edition of the game just by playing.

For those who don’t know, theBattlefront 2Deluxe Edition will come with immediate access toStar Wars: The Last Jediheroes, ship upgrades, early access to the game, multiple weapons, weapon modifications, abilities, and ability modifications. Essentially, the deluxe edition of the game will unlock certain items right away, while Standard Edition owners will need to unlock the items as they play.

The items included in the deluxe edition are presumably part of theBattlefront 2multiplayer modes, and not necessarily the campaign. While little has been shared about the game’ssingle player campaign, based on DICE and EA’s history with shooter campaigns, gamers can expect a fairly straight-forward experience where weapons and abilities are limited based on a particular mission.

It’s nice to know that, at the moment, there doesn’t seem to be any exclusive items that some players will have and others wont. It’s more about when players will have access to the various items. Hopefully themysterious Season Pass situationturns out similarly, with EA and DICE opting to release any expansions to all players for free, much like withTitanfall 2. Of course, that’s still unconfirmed so gamers will have to wait until the official word comes from EA.

In the meantime, there’s plenty to look forward to withBattlefront 2. Along with the lessons EA and DICE have learned from 2015’sStar Wars Battlefront, players will be able to enjoy epic space battles, a compelling single-player campaign, couch co-op, and of course large multiplayer battles.

Sadly, whileBattlefront 2will make use of the Frostbite 3 engine, itwon’t have destructible environments, unlike EA and DICE’sBattlefieldseries. As long asBattlefront 2offers a worthy sequel to its predecessor, it’s likely players wont mind that omission.

Star Wars Battlefront 2is set to release July 17, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
