Summary
An eagle-eyed fan watchingAhsokanoticed long-timeStar Warsactor Sam Witwer was in the episode, which could hint at Starkiller’s return.
Ahsokaepisodes 1-2were released this past Tuesday, and in classic Dave Filoni fashion, there are a lot of references and connections to otherStar Warsprojects. The series features several of Filoni’s original characters, including Ahsoka Tano fromStar Wars: The Clone Warsand several Ghost crew members fromStar Wars Rebels. Grand Admiral Thrawn, played by Lars Mikkelsen, and a group of brand-new antagonists will also appear in the show.

When the first episode ofAhsokaended and the credits rolled, some fans noticed a familiar name: Witwer was credited for “Additional Voices.” Witwer has played severalStar Warscharacters, including The Son and Darth Maul inThe Clone Wars, and he voiced Emperor Palpatinein video games andRebels. However, his most notable role isn’t canon -Starkiller inStar Wars: The Force Unleashed.
One of the new antagonists introduced in theAhsokaseries is Marrok, a former inquisitor completely encased in armor hiding his identity. This has led to many theories about who is underneath that armor, with many people speculating Starkiller is finally making his way into the canon. Although Marrok stays silent, he makes a few grunts during his fights that would be enough for an “additional voices” credit. Adding to the theory is Starkiller’s actual name, Galen Marek, which isn’t too far off from Marrok. Witwer also revealed thatFiloni almost made Starkiller an Inquisitor inRebelsbut ultimately decided it did not make sense for the story they were telling.
Starkiller is not the only character fans think is behind Marrok’s mask. Fans have a lot oftheories that include obscureStar Warscharacters, but another popular idea is that it has some connection to Ezra. This theory comes from the fact that Marrock is the name of an Arthurian knight who was transformed into a wolf and Ezra’s connection with the Loth-wolves on Lothal.
Many fans would love to see Starkiller appear in live-action and become canon toStar Wars. He’s a fan-favorite character and deserves to beStar Warscanon, but he would probably need to be nerfed. Fans must wait to see if Marrok’s identity is ever revealed inAhsoka.
Ahsokapremieres new episodes on Disney Plus on Tuesdays.
