Splitgatehas exploded in popularity since entering beta last month, and the game is showing no signs of slowing down. Millions of FPS fans have flocked toSplitgateto see exactly what theHalomeetsPortalgameis all about, competing in intense battles across the game’s many different maps and match types. While battling it out onSplitgate’s maps, some eagle-eyed fans have even found some cleverly hidden Easter eggs.

While playing on theSplitgateLavawell map, streamer loochytv found areference toTerminator 2: Judgment Day. One of the most iconic scenes from the classic sci-fi/action movie is when the titular Terminator falls into some molten lava, and to give some reassurance to his human companions, he offers a “thumbs up” as he sinks to his death. This scene has been recreated and referenced in countless movies, video games, TV shows, and more ever since, withSplitgategetting in on the action as well.

As seen in a recent TikTok by loochytv, theSplitgateLavalwell maphas a reference to the famousTerminator 2thumbs up scene. Off in the distance, players can see an arm sticking up out of the lava, giving players a thumbs up that looks very similar to the thumbs up fromThe Terminator.

It will be interesting to see if there are more Easter eggs hidden in the otherSplitgatemaps, or if futureSplitgatemaps will bring their own Easter eggs to the table. Developer 1047 Games clearly has ambitious plans forSplitgate’s future.Splitgate’s unwavering popularityensures that players can look forward to plenty of content updates down the road, and it stands to reason that those updates will include new maps.

Splitgateskins could also be used to make pop culture references, or maybe they will outright feature some licensed content at one point. So farSplitgatehas stuck to original skins created by the developers, but if the game’s popularity persists, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it add some skins based on popular franchises. Of course, it will need to exit its beta phase and have its full release first.

Splitgate’s release date was delayedat the last minute, originally planned for late July. The game’s unexpected popularity forced the developers to push their plans back, upgrading their servers to accommodate for the large number of people trying to play the game. Now it seems thatSplitgate’s server issues have been mostly resolved and with the beta Battle Pass nearing its end, it seems that an officialSplitgaterelease date announcement is just a matter of time.

Splitgateis out now in beta for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions planned.
