In the year 2022, it kind of feels likeSkyrimhas been out forever, with it being ported to new systems each generation and Bethesda unveiling a multitude of re-releases that attempt to improve on the original decade-old format. WithThe Elder Scrolls 6still being as elusive as ever, fans of the series are generally sticking with the 2011 epic RPG. Not that that’s a bad thing, given that there are more than enough mods to keep players amused, including one that fulfills any desires to be a bit more sarcastic.
Created by SophCo and using a voice pack made by ChizFoShiz, “Londoner Player Voice Preset” is a mod for the Special Edition ofSkyrimthat gives the Dragonborn a voice, and not just any voice, but the one of a rather sardonic English woman. The description on Nexus Mods says that this custom add-on implements a few short comments, which are activated based on certain contexts, such as when killing an enemy, levelling up, or finding rare loot. A brief video shows the mod in action. The voice work is provided by Laya Aiyenuro, a London-born professional voice-over artist.

There are manyamusing and bizarre mods forSkyrim, some of which don’t do much to improve the game a whole heap, though they do offer a more humorous playthrough experience. SophCo’s mod is just such an addition. However, it could also inject a little more immersion into the game. Generally, the Dragonborn that players take control of does not really have much to say, aside from numerous grunts and shouts. But in terms of dialogue, they are generally Link-like in their silence. This latest voice add-on at least gives the main character of the game something to say when out and about.
Given the sheer talent and dedication that emanates from the modding community, it’s hardly surprising thatSkyrimis considered one of the best RPGs of the last decade. True, it may have aged somewhat over the years and it’s still a bit of a buggy mess, but that’s where the teams and individuals from the fan base come into their own, by creating fixes and generally making the game much better.
On top of that, it was revealed at the beginning of this year thatSkryimis one of the best games to induce mindfulnessin players. That may sound a little strange, given that it’s generally quite a combat-heavy title. However, the general landscape and gorgeous scenery could play a part in Bethesda’s most lucrative game to date being a rather tranquil experience.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
