A few weeks after theSaints Rowreboot was announced, fans of theSaints Rowseries may have a lot of questions for the developers. Deep Silver recently put a spotlight on what fans can expect from theSaints Rowreboot, which includes fully untethered cross-gen co-op.
TheSaints Rowreboot appears to lack Johnny Gat, but it has been confirmed to feature seamless cross-gen co-op, meaning that players can rob, scheme, and fight alongside their friends no matter what hardware each is using. Whether gamers have access to the newest gaming hardware or prefer more seasoned gear, the newSaints Rowco-op is open to all.

Not only will players be able to take advantage of cross-gen co-op to play the full campaign with friends who don’t own next-gen consoles, but they will also be able to enjoy seamless, untethered drop-in/drop-out co-op. Apparently, waiting around in lobbies while the game connects is against theSaints Rowethos. TheSaints Rowreboot has faced some backlash, but the developers appear to know what they’re doing in the field of co-op play. Reportedly, the team working on the reboot will always put gameplay first, a decision that may bode well for the rest of the game.
The developers have already confirmed that they have more co-op surprises in store for fans, though they haven’t gone into much detail yet. If fully untethered cross-gen co-op is just the tip of the iceberg, the sky may be the limit–at least, as far as multiplayer is concerned. TheSaints Rowreboot’s noticeably different approach could be a double-edged sword, but this seems like it could be a solid step in the right direction. Having the ability to wander through Santo Ileso with friends and search for Easter eggs together may help fans accept the changes to the franchise.
According to the developers, the seamless, untethered co-op will be available in the full game, which may suggest that it will be absent in demo and beta builds. If this is the case,Saints Rowplayers may have to wait a while to experience the rebooted co-op functionality. Since co-op multiplayer throughout the campaign is one of the things some fans would like to seecarried over to theSaints Rowreboot fromSaints Row 4, this may be seen as a strike against the game. Hopefully, fans will give the developers a chance to show what theSaints Rowreboot has to offer.
