At the Microsoft E3 2019 press conference, the next From Software game was officially confirmed with theannouncement ofElden Ring. While the reveal ofElden Ringwas certainly met with a great deal of enthusiasm, some fans may have been surprised to not hear any news aboutSekiro: Shadows Die TwiceDLC during the expo. Indeed, many have been expecting post-launch content forSekiro, but there is now indication that there is noSekiroDLC currently in development.

The rumor that From Software is not developing anySekiro: Shadows Die TwiceDLC at this time originates from ResetEra, a popular forum for video game discussion, with a user indicating that, to their knowledge, “there’s no one working onSekiroDLC now.” Certainly, this statement should be considered with skepticism, however, the user has previously provided “insider” information about From Software titles, and a ResetEra administrator has confirmed that the user “has a good source.”

sekiro dlc not in development

The user further indicates that From Software’s current “main focus” isElden Ring, which is certainly logical now that the game has been officially announced. The implication here seems to be that any of the studio’s resources that would have been dedicated toSekiroDLC are now wrapped up in the development of the collaboration with George R.R. Martin, and this makes sense considering that it is said thatElden Ringis the largest From Software game to date.

Perhaps then it is possible that From Software could return toSekiro: Shadows Die TwiceafterElden Ringhas gone gold, though this would not be consistent with how the company has handled DLC for its other recent titles. As such, it may be safe to assume thatSekirohas come to a close until a sequel is released, if, in fact, that ever occurs.

For those fans that have been wondering about what theSekiroDLC planwill be, this rumor may come as disappointing news indeed. That said, it is just a rumor, which means that players should not definitively rule out the possibility of DLC forSekiro: Shadows Die Twiceuntil official word is issued by From Software.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twiceis available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
