Potential information surrounding a sequel toStar Wars Republic Commandohits Reddit thanks to someone who is involved with the marketing campaign for the 2017 game.

Fans have known for a while that EA had twoStar Warsrelated projects under development after working with Disney toacquire the video game license. One of those projects turned out to be the popular shooter,Star Wars Battlefront, and up until now, EA and the team at Visceral Games have been completely silent as to what the other game would be. Outside of the fact that former Naughty Dog employee, Amy Hennig, is heading up a team that is nowsupported by Jade Raymond and her Motive Studio, details have been relatively scarce. Thanks to Reddit, fans may finally have a clue as to what EA is planning for the future of Star Wars.

According to Reddit user Alpha_cuke, EA is planning to revealStar Wars: Imperial Commandolater this year during theirnewly renovated E3 press conference. The game is a sequel of sorts to the fan favorite squad shooter,Star Wars: Republic Commando, and will be four player co-op focused. According to the rumor, the game will be running on the Frostbite 4 engine and is intended to be story driven thanks to a 20+ hour campaign. Familiar characters from the originalRepublic Commandosuch as clone trooper RC-1138 will also be making a return as well.

Interestingly enough, Alpha_cuke also goes on to confirm that this isn’t the secretive Visceral GamesStar Warstitle, which is expected to release later this year. According to him,Imperial Commandois scheduled for a late 2017 release, which would mean a completely different development team would have to be working on this considering Visceral is busy supportingBattlefield Hardlineand working on the next Star Wars game while DICE is busy withMirrors Edge: CatalystandDLC support ofBattlefront.

For what it’s worth, this leaked information was obtained thanks to the Reddit user being apart of the team working on an ARG campaign and has seen the work in progress gameplay. A couple of screenshots for the soon to be released website were also shared where users will be able to log in and view a countdown scheduled to end on July 30, 2025, the supposed reveal date which is expected at E3. Oddly enough, June 15 is a Wednesday this year, while EA typically holds their events on a Monday.

Obviously, until this is verified by EA, fans should take all of this information with a grain of salt, even though much of it does seem legit. It goes without saying that fans have been fooled before byvery elaborately crafted hoaxes.
