Rumors have persisted for weeks that Microsoft is planning on reviving theFablefranchise withFable 4, which is said to bein development atForza Horizonstudio Playground Games. While the game has yet to be officially announced, a recent interview with Playground Games creative director Ralph Fulton suggests that it is being developed with Xbox One X as its lead platform.
Fulton recently discussed the next title from Playground Games, rumored to beFable 4, in an interview with Daily Star. Here’s what Fulton had to say about how the studio’s next game is being developed with the Xbox One X as its lead platform and why:

“Ease of development in the Xbox One X’s make up provides a really great development platform, not just for that console but also the whole family of devices and even PC. As we work on our current project, which is currently undisclosed but is also occupying our studio at the moment, we’re creating it with the Xbox One X as the lead platform.”
IfFable 4is in development, it would make sense for the Xbox One X to be its lead platform. After all, the Xbox One X has enjoyed strong sales since its launch late last year, and stands as the most powerful video game console currently on the market. However, even thoughFable 4is rumored to have the Xbox One X as its lead platform, the game should still be playable on standard Xbox One consoles as well as PC.
Of course, it’s possible thatFable 4isn’t the next title from Playground Games at all. Another rumor floating around is thatForza Horizon 4is currently in development at the studio, and that it will be set in Japan. Hopefully Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference offers some more clarity on that front.
Whether or notFable 4is in development is up for debate, but more evidence of its existence seems to cropping up. It will be interesting to find out if the game is in development, and if it will retain thedark and gritty R-rated tonethat was originally meant for it when it was originally in development at the now-defunct Lionhead Studios.
