The Nintendo Switch has earned a reputation for taking older triple-A games and making them portable, like with it did withSkyrim, for instance.It appears this trend may continue too, as a Czech gaming website seems to have leaked a remastered collection ofAssassin’s Creed 3andLiberationthat may be headed to the Switch.
The webpage is still live as of this writing, though it’s more than a bit sparse on details. The page does, however, list the release date as July 10, 2025, meaning an official announcement could be just a few days away if the remaster does turn out to be real.Assassin’s Creed 3has already had a remaster confirmed for the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One, so a Switch port doesn’t seem too unlikely, though it may come with some graphical sacrifices.
The most surprising thing about the remaster is the potential release date, asMetro Exodus, Crackdown 3, Far Cry New Dawn,andJump Forceare all scheduled to be released on the same day. Needless to say, this is one of the most crowded launch days that players will see this year, and while none of these games are headed to Switch to directly compete, it’s highly likely that gamers with multiple consoles will skip a remaster for some of themost anticipated games 2019. However, it is great that Ubisoft is includingLiberationin the supposed collection, as it’s a largely under-appreciated game in the franchise.
The other question is why Ubisoft would choose to portAssassin’s Creed 3to the system. The game performed well critically, evenearning a formidable score in our review, but it wasn’t all that well received by fans, earning a meager 6.8 user rating on Metacritic. Ubisoft does have a strong relationship with Nintendo though, and the publisher likely wouldn’t want to damage that relationship by only skipping Nintendo’s platform.
Of course, Ubisoft still hasn’t confirmed anything, so anyone hoping to view the American Revolution with a fresh coat of paint should take this information with a grain of salt, even if the remaster doesn’t seem too far fetched.
