Sadly, just like it seems to be the case with so many other games, the most ‘optimal’ Armor setups inRemnant 2usually end up being a blend of everything that clashes visually.

Granted, the majority ofRemnant 2players decide to take the slight defense disadvantage by wearing a fully integrated Armor Set, but for the ones who need to min-max all their defenses and resistances for Apocalypse or Hardcore Mode, here are the best Leg pieces specifically, ranked.

Carrying the rear of the Leg Armor rankings, it’s the Survivor Leggings from the Survivor Set. That’s right, the default Armor players get just from starting the game is actually one of the better pants to wear specifically because they’re average across the board.
Giving 24 Defense for only 10 Weight is a great tradeoff, and it gives decent Resistance to all elements all across the board. Of course, there are Leg Pieces with the same weight that are better, but these ones literally come free of charge.

Next up is the first Armor Set piece from one of the starting Archetypes, the Trainer Workboots from the Handler’s Trainer Set. While these pants have slightly less Resistance coverage and two less Armor compared to the Survivor Leggings, they’re a noticeable amount lighter, which is enough to make them more viable in more builds than the Survivor Leggings.

After all, a lot ofRemnant 2’sArmor pieces all ‘add up to’ a nice round weight number for the whole set, so while the whole set may weigh 40, that’s not 10 weight per piece, but more of something like 8 for the head, 12 for the chest, 10 for the arms, and 10 for the legs. So, having a weight of 8 instead of 10 will give the Trainer Workboots more of a chance to work in a build that equals the exact weight a player needs.

This Leg Armor is honestly, just as useful as the Trainer Workboots. The only reason the High Noon Soles are higher up on this list is simply because, from a visual standpoint, the High Noon Soles are more interesting.
These pants (and boots) blend well with a much wider variety of Armor combinations, after all. Additionally, the Fire Resistance they provide makes them a perfect fit for a build centered aroundthe Crown of the Red Princeand the Firestorm Weapon Mod, which seems to bethe ‘meta’ build, at least for the moment.

Unless players are starting out asArchon after unlocking it on another character, this next bit of leg armor is going to take a while to unlock. To get these, players need to unlock the Archon Archetype, which is a whole involved process that was found through some dedicated data mining. But, once they open the corrupted door of the Labyrinth and get the Archetype,they’ll be able to buy the Labyrinth Set from Whispers on any character.
And, for being such a rare item to obtain, the Labyrinth Set is just numerically better than every Leg Armor listed before this. The only real arguable ‘downside’ is that its Resistances are a bit heavily tailored toward Shock and Fire Resistance, which just makes them a bit better for more specific builds..

Surprisingly, even after mentioning the Labyrinth Treads, there is still a starting Archetype with better pants. The Hunter is basically the sniper-type Archetype with also sorts of Ranged Damage bonuses and the ability to Mark Enemies (or go invisible). And yet, its Armor Set, the Nightstalker Armor is good on just about anyone.
The Nightstalker Pants, in particular, are the best of all worlds as they have the armor of the Labyrinth Treads and a great spread of Elemental Resistances. Plus, they even weigh just a pinch less than the Labyrinth Treads as well.

Moving on to another piece of Armor that takes quite a bit of work to get, it’s the Fae Royal Greaves found in Losomn. After finding this Armor Set in the Postulant’s Parlor event, players can put it all on to see that this is a Heavy Armor Set that puts theminto the ‘Heavy’ class of Encumbrance, where they’ll notice the color of the number marking their weight is now yellow.

Thankfully at 55 weight overall, it’s only in the Heavy category by a few weight points, so just by switching out the arm pieces or investing a bit into some sort of Encumbrance reduction, players can Medium dodge with all the defense of a Heavy Armor set. There’s not much to say about it statistically, it just has great stats, but visually this has to be one of the most stylish (and edgy-est) Armor Sets inRemnant 2.

Makes sense that both an Armor Set worn by Founder Ford and one that only becomes available after beating the game’s final boss would be worth using. That’s right, in second place are the Realmwalker Pantaloons, the Leg Armor used by the Explorer Archetype.
Most of the other light-category Armor in this game has a spread of 7 points of Resistance across Bleed, Fire, Shock, Toxin, and Blight, and the Realmwalker Pantaloons are the same. Not only that, but for only 6 units of weight they give only a bit less Armor than a Medium Set’s leggings, which makes them more than worth using.

Anyone who has playedRemnant: From the Ashesis likely anything but surprised to see both the Leto MK I and Leto Mk II Leg Armor pieces ranked the highest on this list. It was the most ‘broken’ Armor Set inR: FtAandthat really hasn’t changed much inRemnant 2.
There are just simply too many ways for players to offset the Encumbrance penalty in these games (such as the Bright Steel Ring), so their downsides of making the player ‘Ultra Heavy’ really aren’t that punishing. Additionally, the Leto MK II Leggings, in particular, are the perfect weight to fit in most of the meta builds while also providing just a ridiculous amount of Defense and overall Resistance.
