ARed Dead Redemption 2film production crew keeps working on the game and suggests that the upcoming cowboy epic could be released in September, barring a potential delay announcement doesn’t come about due to said filming still occurring. Rockstar Games announcedRed Dead Redemption 2last year following years of anticipation.

According to a local Montana news report, Rockstar Games is still conducting filming forRed Dead Redemption 2. A team headed up by Los Angeles, California based producer Jeff Guillot recently headed to the Mni-Sda (Still Water) Presbyterian Church (known as the Chelsea Church) in northeastern Montana to film promotion for a “sequel to an existing global franchise.”

Although Guillot didn’t state the name of the game, the crew did say that it features an open-world, takes place in a fictional rural area, is set to release this year and features prairie locations. So, it stands to reason thatRed Dead Redemption 2is indeed the game the producer is referring to.

One scene being filmed in the belfry featured “a man fighting with another man near a hanging bell as a train rolled by on the tracks a half-mile away,” with a fiberglass bell being specially made and flown to Montana for filming. Production areas for the game also stretch for 5,000 miles and go between California and Montana, says Guillot, suggesting that leaks that show alarge mapfor the title are legitimate, if not just indicative of how big the game may be.

Other interesting tidbits include the fact that Chelsea Church has a strong Native American connection. The Chelsea community was settled by Sitting Bull’s Hunkpapa Sioux band, moving into the area around 1876, while the church itself is the oldest on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. Although the belfry is what drew the production crew to the location, it would be interesting to see if Native American influences also work themselves into the game as a result.

Additionally, Guillot revealed thatRed Dead Redemption 2is to be released in September. The game does not have an officialrelease datebeyond fall 2017, but the comments from the LA producer will hopefully offset concerns that the game has been delayed. If the game is on track for its initial release window though, Rockstar will need to get a move on.

Fans are eager to find out more about the “epic” story promised by the developer, as well asRed Dead Redemption 2’sonline multiplayer. Maybe with promo production finishing up, the game will have a big presence at E3 2017 and Rockstar will reveal plenty more during the annual industry event.

Red Dead Redemption 2is scheduled to release in fall 2017 on PS4 and Xbox One.
