Last week, Rockstar Games launched Red Dead Online, the multiplayer component forRed Dead Redemption 2that promises even more cowboy-based shenanigans for players. But while there is plenty to do with friends, likecomplete story missionsor build the ultimate outlaw, Rockstar is only calling this a beta. In other words, there is presumably more to be added to the game over time.
At the same time, there might also be features inRed Dead Onlinethat are currently available but which Rockstar has not explicitly pointed out to players. For example, players have spotted evidence of legendary animals in the game.

While out exploring the open world of Red Dead Online, several players have noted finding tracks that point to legendary animals. The game never explains that there are legendary animals around or where to find them, but it does appear that they are in the multiplayer experience.
In order to find a legendary animal, it seems to be pure luck. Players will need to make use of their Dead Eye sense to search for animal tracks, paying close attention to the names of the animals. If they are lucky they might find a track that says it leads to a legendary animal.
Unfortunately, there have been no reports of successfullegendary animal hunts, so it’s hard to say if they are actually in the game. It’s possible that Red Dead Online only has the early parts of legendary animal hunts but the features are not yet live. It’s also unclear what players would inevitably do with a legendary animal pelt should they find and kill the animal.
InRed Dead Redemption 2, players can use a map to find and hunt legendary animals and then take those pelts to the trapper to craft unique outfits and clothing. At present, there is no trapper in Red Dead Online and the onlything players can do with peltsis take them to the Butcher for money. Presumably, these legendary animal pelts would fetch a decent price and would be a good way to make money in Red Dead Online, but it’s hard to imagine there isn’t a greater purpose for the pelts.
Red Dead Online is live for PS4 and Xbox One.
