AlthoughRed Dead Onlinewasn’t available at launch alongside the single player part ofRed Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar has made sure to keep the mode updated with new content for players to dig into. Even though the mode is technically still in beta, brand new modes likethe Battle Royale style Gun Rushhave appeared alongside other smaller updates and fixes. In a new post on Rockstar Newswire, the next major update forRed Dead Onlinewas revealed, including content and plenty of new enhancements to the experience.
One of the biggest changes in this latestRed Dead Redemption 2update surrounds the topic of player griefing and destructive tendencies online. In an effort to minimize this behavior,Rockstar Gamesis reducing the visibility of player blips over long distances, meaning that players' map position won’t display to others unless they’re within 150 meters. The goal with this change is to prevent players from being repeatedly targeted across the map at long distances.

In addition, a new system is being added that highlights overly aggressive players. Essentially, if a player exhibits behaviors that become more and more hostilesuch as killing other players or their horsesin free roam, their map position becomes more visible to other players through a dot that gradually becomes progressively darker from blue to red. Posse-wide parley or feuds are also being introduced. With the Parley system, players can initiate it to their entire attacker’s posse after just a single kill. On the other hand, they can also initiate a posse feud turning a dispute into a semi-timed deathmatch in free roam.
The other major piece to thisRed Dead Redemption 2February 26 release is Bounty Hunters & the Law getting tweaked. For players who have a high bounty on their head, NPC bounty hunters could appear to try and kill them to collect the reward. Criminal behaviors now have value and honor consequences that scale based on the type of crime being committed. The higher the bounty, the more difficult the pursuit becomes for the player and their posse.
There’s plenty more to thisRed Dead Onlineupdate as well, including new Daily Challenges that reward gold nuggets and XP. Challenges aim to cover all gameplay types online from collecting certain types of herbs, selling to a fence, clearing hideouts, and more. The last piece to this update is weapon re-balancing, bug fixes, and other improvements first reported from the community directly. Just like the wildly successfulGTA Online, it’s clear that Rockstar intends to keep this side ofRed Dead Redemption 2updated and fresh for as long as it can.
