Summary
It’s no secret that the new Blueberry Academy destination inPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Indigo Disk DLC is located in the fan-favorite Unova region, but what’s not quite as well-known is the fact that the new Terarium area is home to various areas which directly reference places found throughout the Gen 5 games. The new expansion forPokemon Scarlet and Violetis absolutely packed with references to the Unova region, leaving some fans to wonder whether it’s a hint of what’s to come in the near future for the franchise.
While Gen 5 enthusiasts will undoubtedly get a good dose of nostalgia from the many Unova references,Gen 5 Pokemon, and remixed soundtracks from thePokemon Black and Whitegames present throughout the second part of the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, players unfortunately aren’t able to go beyond the borders of the underwater Blueberry Academy. The school’s massive, multi-biome Terarium does offer a lot to explore, though, and while some players have already come across locations such as the Chargestone Cavern in the Terarium, which directly pays homage to the nearly identically-named location in the Unova region, there are many more subtle secrets to find as well.

One of these spots can be particularly challenging to notice, even for players well-acquainted with theoriginal Gen 5Pokemongames. Those who pay close attention to their map while exploring the Terarium’s coastal biome may notice an area that bears striking resemblance to the Nature Preserve location that can only be accessed after completing the Pokedex in theBlack and White 2games, and this is no coincidence. Within this area, players can come across a special Terastallized Haxorus, which itself is a direct reference to the fixed-encounter shiny Haxorus which can be met by players after reaching the Nature Preserve inBlack and White 2. Fans of the game have even been drawing attention to this find on social media in an effort to better guide others to the location.
The Nature Preserve inBlack and White 2represents aparticularly unique location in the Pokemon world, not only due to it being a strictly post-Pokedex location but also because it’s one of the only places in the entire series where legitimate level 100 wild Pokemon can theoretically be encountered. Extremely rare Pokemon spawns in this area can range between level 1-100 naturally, though this only applies to wild Magikarp and Gyarados which can be found in the waters there.
The existence of spots such as this inPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Terarium, as well as the Chargestone Cavern, has also raised some questions such as whether the Terarium was modeled after these locations, or if it was partly constructed with some of the areas that players visited way back inPokemon Black and White. Regardless, the many Unova references have certainly helped further inspire speculation thatofficialBlack and Whiteremakesmay not be far away.
