Making up the ninth generation of the belovedPokemonseries,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetare fast approaching a full year on the market. These games introduce an open-world setting to the mainline installments and allow players to choose their story paths and conquer objectives out of order. Game Freak intends to keep the momentum going with a two-part DLC campaign, titledThe Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. The first part,The Teal Mask, is due on June 14, 2025, while the second part,The Indigo Disk, is due out in Q4.

As stated by the official Japanese Pokemon Company X account,Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s two-part DLC campaignwill include the ability to transfer recruited Pokemon via Pokemon Home. This feature will be added via the Version 3.1.0 update, which will launch at a currently unknown date. Regardless, it will allow the 230+ Pokemon added via the DLC to be transferred to other compatible games. The DLC Pokemon in question include two new Legendaries, new evolutions for Duraludon and Applin, and every starter that was missing in the baseScarlet and Violet.
The comment section below the tweet was minimal and wholly in Japanese, but excited about this update nonetheless. Many were elated by the inclusion, particularly the new starters shown off in the included promotional image, but also bummed out at the lack of a release date for Version 3.1.0. It should be a treat for fans to finally learn when this new feature lands, alongside a confirmation on whetherthose heavily rumored Tera formsare really in the bonus campaign.
From what has been shown,The Hidden Treasure of Area Zerois looking to be a pretty substantial addition to these games, and the ability to transfer the new Pokemon from this campaign into other titles is a smart and unexpected move on The Pokemon Company’s part. Still, the amount of criticism directed at the base games do open up some room for apprehension, especially given the likelihood of some technical issues much likethe ones that plagued the baseScarlet and Violet. Only time will tell regarding the quality of this DLC.
