Alongside thePokemon GOtrailer that teasesthe introduction of gen 4 Pokemon, the developer Niantic has also revealed some key changes coming to the mobile ARG. However, it did not give a specific date as to when these changes will unfurl, but players can expect these game balance reworks to roll out in the coming weeks in preparation for the arrival of Sinnoh. Essentially, these changes break down into the two categories of Pokemon battle stats and Pokemon spawn rates.

It’s worth mentioning that these changes are based on player feedback and should hopefully smooth out the experience with the introduction of the forthcoming Pokemon. This first major change toPokemon GOis to the stats of Pokemon. Niantic revealed players should expect the following changes: adjusted CP values to improve game balance, adjusted HP values so there isn’t such a discrepancy between high HP and low HP Pokemon, rebalanced defense and stamina values so high defense Pokemon are more effective in battle, and overall, defense stats will be reduced for most Pokemon.

Until these changes are implemented into the system, there’s no telling how players will react or how these stat changes will affect the game. However, the second major change which deals with Pokemon spawn rate is likely to be well-received. After all, these changes include everything fromweather adjustments, a greater variety of spawns, and an increase in certain areas.

To be more specific, the influence that the weather has on Pokemon spawn rate will be decreased. While it isn’t fully detailed yet, this change should give players who live in areas that are mostly one weather type more variety. It’s worth noting that there was no mention of the weather’s influence on the battle system, so it seems like those using it to helptake down behemoths like Mewtwoshould not worry. Speaking of variety, Pokemon spawns of a greater variety should occur over time and at different rates, so players don’t often see the same Pokemon.

Lastly, certain areas such as parks and natural reserves typically have one type of Pokemon spawn. Now, these areas will have a greater variety as well, hopefully promoting these areas within the game and in real life. Of course, the verdict is out, but based on the aforementioned details, what do you think of these coming changes, trainers? When do you think Gen 4 Pokemon will be added?
