WhilePokemon GOmay never reach the same heights as it did when it originally launched back in summer of 2016, that doesn’t meant that the game still isn’t plenty popular in 2019. In fact,Pokemon GOis still making serious cash for everyone involved, with the mobile game reportedly making over $65 million in April alone.
This report comes courtesy of Sensor Tower, which attributes this extreme spending to thePokemon GOEggstravganza event. For the uninitiated, the Eggstravaganza event is wherePokemon GOmakes it much easier to hatch eggs, as well as puts more valuable Pokemon in lower-tier eggs. In turn, this means that seriousPokemon GOplayers will burn through their egg incubators at a much faster rate than usual, and therefore may have to spend more money in the in-game store than they would otherwise.

The $65 million in April is a 15% increase from whatPokemon GOmade in the same month in 2018, and the first quarter of 2019 in general has so far been better for the game than the same time last year. For the first four months of 2019,Pokemon GOhas made around $270 million, which is up by a whopping 33% compared to the first four months of 2018, where it apparently made around $203.5 million.
WithPokemon GOoutdoing itself compared to last year, it’s hard to say when the game’s momentum will stop, if ever. Thanks to Game Freak continuing to introduce new Pokemon to the franchise through the main series games, it seems as thoughPokemon GOwill have an infinite pool of content to pull from. This combined with regular in-game events has helped keep players engaged for the long-term.
Looking ahead, there should be plenty in 2019 forPokemon GOfans to look forward to, including the introduction ofmore Gen 4 Pokemonand possibly the first Gen 5 Pokemon. There may even be a tie-in with the upcomingPokemon SwordandShieldfor the Switch, but that’s just speculation at this time. Regardless, there should be plenty of in-game events, Community Days, new raid bosses, and more that should all go a long way in helpingPokemon GOcontinue to make a ton of money each month.
Pokemon GOis out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
