Pokemon GOrecently concluded its spooky seasonal offerings with the Halloween Cup, but Niantic is wasting no time preparing its next batch of content. Soon, trainers will be able to able to dive intoPokemon GO’s next Battle League Season with a bounty of new cups, opportunities to catch legendary Pokemon, and more.
Today’s announcement revealed that Battle League Season 5 kicks off in just one week, on November 9th. Trainers who participated in Season 4 will be able to claim their rewards on the battle screen, including a special Elite Fast TM for those who reached rank 7 or above. While the new season will be shorter than most at only three weeks long,Pokemon GO’s November calendar is full of fun eventsto keep trainers active and happy.

Season 5 will feature three new themed cups. The Little Cup starting on November 9th is restricted to unevolved Pokemon who are capable of evolving, while the Kanto Cup follows on the 16th, featuring Pokemon from that region; and finally, the Catch Cup kicks off on the 23rd, where only Pokemon who have been captured during Season 5 are allowed to enter. Picking team members should be easier as well, thanks toa new quality of life feature coming toPokemon GOteased by a recent dataleak, which would allow users to long-press on a Pokemon to see certain stats.
A new attack is also headed to the game in November. Trainers will be able to teach Chandelure, Darmanitan, Ho-oh, Rapidash, and Typhlosion how to use Incinerate to roast foes. Furthermore, two exclusive moves are coming to Community Dayscelebrating Magmar and Electabuzz later on in the month. The move Poison Sting will also be adjusted to generate more energy so Poison-types can use their charge attack more frequently, and trainers will be able to teach Flame Charge to a wider variety of Pokemon as well.
Finally, trainers who reach Rank 7 in Season 5 will have a chance to encounter Legendary Pokemon on the GO Battle League rewards tracks, identical to the monsters players can encounter in five-star raids. Hopefully, increased access to Legendary Pokemon will help take the sting offNiantic’s recent mistake that set the shiny encounter rate to 0%. On that note, trainers should be happy to hear that Niantic is offering an apology package to those who were affected by the error.
Even though November is just beginning, players are eagerly anticipating this year’s seasonal events for Christmas. Though nothing has been confirmed,December’s holiday season presents exciting possibilities forPokemon GO, including specially-themed gifts, ice-themed fights, and, hopefully, the ability to trade Pokemon remotely. The last would be a huge win for the game in the COVID-19 era, as the pandemic has complicated in-person trading considerably for many players, preventing them from completing certain research tasks.
Pokemon GOis available now on Android and iOS devices. Battle League Season 5 begins on November 9th.
