Over on Reddit, user SauronChan showcased their latest creation, a laser-etched custom Sabrina’s Gengar card. The recreation matches the design of the original card perfectly. However, instead of a card being coated in a precious metal, this one is laser-etched out of silver, hand-polished, and then plated in 18K yellow gold. A clasp at the top allows the recipient to wear it on a chain, if they so choose. While not every fan would want to wear it around their neck likeLogan Paul’s Illustrated Pikachu, it’s a glitzy take on a classic card that would likely delight any fan of the series or Sabrina and her Pokemon in particular.
Fans responding to the post have been extremely positive, with some comparing it to the gold Burger KingPokemoncards of the 1990s. Others inquired about whether they could order a custom card or purchase one like this. SauronChan replied that they do make customs and charge £120 (roughly $150 USD) for it, and multiple pleased customers appeared in the thread discussing the cards they’d recently purchased from the artist.
Pokemonfans seem to know no limits when it comes to creating unique and interesting pieces of art surrounding the series.Pokemon’s fanbase of course utilizes traditional methods to create fanart, like painting and drawing, but some fans have looked to more obscure means of celebrating their favorites through things likePokemonstained glassand custom 3D printed designs. After a quarter of a century, the games and anime continue to pick up new fans and bring exciting additions to the table that keep established players engaged. With hundreds of creatures in the series, it’s easy for artistic fans to find inspiration.
Gengar on its own has managed to captivate fans of the series, arriving in the first generation. Thepopular Ghost/Poison-typeis loved for its wicked-but-cute appearance and behavior, making it a great subject for a unique piece like SauronChan’sPokemoncard recreation.
