Gaming subscription services are on the rise, with companies putting a heavier emphasis on Netflix-style subscriptions than they ever have.PlayStation Now, Sony’s video game streaming service, is one such option, and it’s adding some major games this month for those looking for ways to kill some time in between triple-a launches. Luckily, there’s both quantity and quality here.
The most notable addition to the service isHorizon: Zero Dawn,Guerilla Games' robot-brawling action-adventure project. The title sees players hunting robot dinosaurs in a post-collapse world, with a heavy emphasis on its narrative. It was hailed as one of the best new franchises on PS4 by some, standing as one of the major triple-a PlayStation exclusives of last-gen.

WhileHorizon Zero Dawnis the biggest game coming to the service, PlayStation Now is adding several other games on top of it.Survival sandboxStranded Deepwill also be added to the lineup, as well asBroforce,a side-scrolling shoot-em-up game that sees parodies of real-world action movie heroes blast their way through missions. On top of those, fans can expectWreckfest: Drive Hard Die Last, The Surge 2,andDarksiders 3to be added, making the complete list:
Combined, the games add up to a considerable amount of playtime. Notably,Darksiders 3reviewsweren’t positive at launch, though the game’s performance has steadily improved in the years since it released. Additionally, while the first entry in the series launched with mediocre reviews,The Surge 2improved on the concept, offering something of a sci-fi take on theDark Soulsfranchise for those looking for a challenge.
All of the new games are available now through thePlayStation Now appon the PS4 and PS5. Currently,Wreckfestis the only game that has a confirmed exit date from the service, with the game leaving on August 01, 2025, though that does leave players with a healthy amount of time to give it a try. It’s unclear when the other games will be departing, as the length of availability tends to fluctuate.
Sony recently teasedPlayStation’s answer to Game Pass, with information on what that could be supposedly forthcoming. It seems unlikely that PlayStation Now wouldn’t be co-opted into whatever that is, or possibly be expanded into Sony’s entire solution. The framework is already there to turn it into the company’s own take on Game Pass, though that’s purely speculation.
