As a title with one of the more dedicated fanbases in gaming,Overwatchhas had its fair share of success since launching in May 2016. As the title’s developer, Blizzard, continues to update the game with new content across PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions of the game, some fans remain optimistic that the title may eventually make its way over to the Nintendo Switch – despite claims by the studio thatportingOverwatchto Switch would be challenging.
If Blizzard were to hypothetically getOverwatchup and running on Switch, however, then it’s possible that exclusive Nintendo content may make its way into the finished game. This has been par for the course with other third-party games on the system (a laMario, Luigi, and Samus cars inRocket League) and it’s a trend that’s likely to continue as more developers opt in to support the platform.

While some Switch owners have dreamt up various Nintendo-themed costumes forOverwatch’s many heroes in the past, one fan by the name of Aaron Walker has taken the liberty of actually creating a model showcasingThe Legend of Zelda’s Link in the style of Blizzard’s shooter. A glimpse at one piece of the fan-made, dream crossover can be seen below:
After glancing at Walker’s take on anOverwatch-ified Link, it’s interesting to speculate on what this supposed hero’s moveset would look like. With a melee weapon in the form of a high-tech rendition of the Master Sword, it’s clear that this version of theZeldaprotagonist would focus on melee techniques. Meanwhile, his shield could be utilized to block both incoming ranged and physical attacks, although it’s unclear just how well such a layout would work into the meticulously balanced meta ofOverwatch.
Players ofBlizzard’s shooter have done some crazy things to showcase their fandom for the game in the past, with one gamer’sLEGO version of Junkrat’s RIP-Tireimmediately coming to mind. Even then, Aaron Walker’s meshing ofThe Legend of ZeldaandOverwatchis a wonderful amalgamation of the appreciation that each community has for both properties.
Overwatchis currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
