In 2023, theSummer Games is bringing a new twist to theOverwatch 2event. The headlining act is the Tropical Doomfist Epic skin, which all players can earn simply by completing challenges inOverwatch 2during the event. Besides the Doomfist skin and accompanying On Vacation Victory Pose, players can earn a dozen other sprays, player icons, and charms, plus tons of experience towards the Battle Pass, by completing these challenges.

Winston’s Beach Volleyball is abrand-new arcade mode coming with theOverwatch 2Summer Games this year as well. Similar to Lucioball, this 3v3 challenge has players serving a giant volleyball across the sandy battlefield in an attempt to spike it to the ground on their opponent’s side of the field. The first team to score 10 points in this mode wins the match.

Lucioball is also returning for the duration of the Summer Games. All three Lucioball maps will be added in the rotation, plus the Lucioball Remix mode, which features multiple balls at the same time. Many of the Summer Games challenges inOverwatch 2must be completed in Winston’s Beach Volleyball or Lucioball, so players shouldn’t be afraid to jump in and give these game modes a try.

As always, the event will have plenty of new and returning Summer Games skins in the shop. One of the more exciting additions isMercy’s new Lifeguard skin, plus aBaywatch-inspired Rescue Run Highlight Intro. Players can pick up these skins and participate in the event until it ends on July 24.

ThisOverwatch 2eventalso features a new event UI on the main menu of the game. This new interface is an addition to the existing one found in the Challenges section of the game and clearly shows character progress on their objectives, the event duration, and quick links to reach the requisite game modes. Hopefully,Overwatch 2will continue to use and refine this sleek new feature in future game events.

Overwatch 2is now available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
