Overwatch 2players have created a new cosmetic meta that fits certain hero skins to a particular set. This meta style applies to Open Queue, and it featuresskins from Limited Time Eventsand other cosmetics.

Overwatch 2is known for its wide variety of skins that players can use to give a little more personality to their characters, and the best part about them is how they tend to have a thematic purpose for each of the game’s heroes, though random designs exist as well. For example, D.Va and Brigitte have police outfits while Genji can wear a cosmeticthat makes him look like Genos fromOne-Punch Man. The customization options forOverwatch 2heroes include certain high-value skins that only appear during limited-time events, such as sportsy skins during the Summer Games event or the multiple Halloween cosmetics that see heroes referencing Pirates, Vampires, and even Frankenstein.

A Reddit player by the name of House_of_Vines has crafted a new “meta” around these themselves that would apply to Open Queue matches. This not-so-serious meta judges heroes based on their drip and whether they fit in the categories that are demonstrated in the images. Clearly, thisOverwatch 2player understands just how valuable the skins are, and a team that fully embraces its theme is worthy of admiration by the community. Each team is classified into different motifs, such as the Bee Team, which only allows characters whose costumes are referencing bees, or the Under the Sea team, which includes heroes that have water-themed cosmetics like theupcoming Sojourn skin.

Some Redditors have made suggestions for the cosmetic meta inOverwatch 2, with some pointing out that Junkrat, Roadhog, Cassidy, and Soldier 76 all have pirate skins that would fit the Pirate Shippers motif. Other cosmetic enthusiasts were quick to make new teams such as the On Fire team, which would bring characters like Reinhardt, Ashe, Symmetra, Reaper, and Genji together since they all have cosmetics that prominently feature raging flames. Another user talked about the future possibility of a Witch team that involves Mercy, Kiriko, Zenyatta, and Symmetr, with Black Cat D.Va being thrown in as she fits the motif without being a witch-skin user.

Overwatch 2’s cosmetics are still some of the best ways for players to express themselves. Making an entire meta around them would be following the steps ofFashion Soulsand other games that have seen players making fashion statements out of the cosmetics offered by various games. Though it would be an odd situation to run into if players stumbled upon some of the teams suggested by the cosmetic meta during an open queue match, many would also find the costume coordination impressive.

Overwatch 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
