TheNintendo Switchhas been nothing short of a massive success ever since it was launched back in March, becomingNintendo’s fastest selling console everand selling out so quickly that some gamers have had a hard time finding the system in stores. For the upcoming holiday season, though, Nintendo intends to remedy this problem by ensuring that there will be enough Switch consoles available for everyone.
In a new interview with The Wall Street Journal, Nintendo states that it intends to"ramp up production" of the Switchover the next few months in order to meet the expected demand come the Christmas holiday season, thus reiterating production increase claims made a few months ago.

“We’re doing everything we can to make sure everyone who wants to buy a Nintendo Switch system can do so. We will ramp up production for the holiday period, which has been factored into our forecast.”
This is undoubtedly great news for those who have been hard-pressed to find a Switch in-stock, and retailers will also be happy that Nintendo intend on making its new console easier to find over the next few months, especially given how companies such asGameStop intend on opening on Thanksgivingin order to take advantage of the holiday rush.
With a sales forecast of10 million Switch consoles soldby the end the fiscal year, this “ramp up” of production on the system suggests that Nintendo is confident of meeting its target, with the Wall Street Journal noting that a sales target of 18 million may even be possible depending on the Big N’s supply chain.
It’s not just the Switch that is giving Nintendo a big win in 2017 so far. Ever since theSNES Classic Editionwas announced, there has been an incredible demand for the console, so much so that the system was sold out almost instantaneously when pre-orders opened up. Couple the SNES Classic Edition with a plethora of highly-anticipated Switch titles to arrive in the coming months, such asSuper Mario OdysseyandFire Emblem Warriors, and Ninendo’s momentum doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon.
Given how theSwitch has sold 4.7 million units in just four months, and Nintendo’s plan on ensuring that the system will be in plentiful supply, we can certainly expect that number to rise considerably come the Christmas holiday season.
