After a very successful launch on September 28, Amazon Game Studios’New Worldhas entered troubled territory due to all the unfortunate glitches that players started experiencing. Despite Amazon’s efforts in trying to limit the damage done and, at the same time, improve the game to make it a better version of itself,New Worldis far from being out of the woods yet. This week, Amazon had to disable wealth transfer inNew Worldonce again because the developer was made aware of another duplication glitch that allowed players to dupe more Gold, materials, and now trophies too.

In its current state,New Worldmight not survive if wealth transfer is disabled againin the future, and that’s because of the fact that the population has dramatically reduced over time. One of the reasons why this is the case is that it’s punishing for crafters and gatherers, especially, due to weight limits in their inventories and storage. This often leads to players being stuck in settlements while the economy is shut down because they can’t sell anything.

Something similar happened to a Reddit user by the name of Few-Gazelle-91, who shared a post on the platform telling the tale of how they became a statue in Windsward. TheNew Worldplayertried to acquire an incredible amount of water to sell it at a profitable rate, but when the economy was shut down, they over-encumbered themselves to 15,000 weight out of 415 maximum weight, effectively hindering movement. The player tried to use the unstuck command to be teleported near the storage, but this too didn’t work because it was still too far to access.

Once the ability to trade was restored, the player was finally able to drop everything on the ground, move back by a few steps, pick up everything again, and repeat the process until they got to a trading post. While the player eventually found a solution, this further proves how problematic it is for players whenAmazon disables trading posts and wealth transfers inNew World, and that’s not even considering property and territory taxation or Invasions.

Even though the game is not in a good state yet,New Worldplayers are praising Amazon for its communication and engagement, which shows through the forum posts.New Worldmay need more time to finally come out of this phase, but the game is refreshing enough that it may be worth the wait.
