PlayStation has released a brand-new trailer for its upcomingSpider-Man 2PS5 game, which includes references to three villains that are unlikely to be featured in the game in an official capacity: Hydro Man, Big Wheel, and Speed Demon. Like its predecessor, theSpider-Man 2game will have the titular Spider-Man going up against some of his most recognizable foes, including The Lizard, Kraven the Hunter, and Venom.
All three of these villains were on display in the latestSpider-Man 2game trailer, which was released as part of San Diego Comic Con. The trailer begins with Peter introducing his friendHarry Osbornto fellow Spider-Man Miles Morales at a theme park. Prior to the introductions, fans can get a glimpse of multiple carnival rides and attractions, some of which seem to be clear nods to villains from old-schoolSpider-Mancomic books.

This was pointed out by various individuals on social media who noticed that the carnival attractions included nods toSpider-Manseries villains. The Ferris wheel in the background is named Big Wheel, a reference to one of the most obscure and bizarre villains from Spider-Man’s rogues gallery who is a criminal that quite literally uses a “big wheel” to wreak havoc. There’s also a competitive water gun game called Hydro Bench,a nod to Hydro-Man, whose alter ego is Morris Bench. And finally, the rollercoaster is named Speed Demon, which is likely referencing the Marvel villain who originated as anAvengersbaddie before later becoming more established as aSpider-Manvillain.
These are most likely just fun Easter eggs for hardcoreSpider-Manfans to notice and shouldn’t be taken as a sign that any of these villains will actually appear in theSpider-Man 2game. But while these villains may not be making appearances outside these references, there should still be plenty of villains for players to contend with inSpider-Man 2. Besides the aforementioned Lizard,Kraven the Hunter, and Venom, the latest trailer also confirmed that Mister Negative will be inSpider-Man 2after first playing a major role in the previous game.
It’s likely that theSpider-Man 2game will feature even more villains for Peter and Miles to fight that have yet to be revealed. It’s possible more enemies will be announced in additionalSpider-Man 2game trailers, but it’s also possible Sony will decide to wait until theSpider-Man 2PS5 release daterolls around in October and let fans see it all for themselves.
