104 Minutes

My Hero Academia: Heroes Risingis the second movie that Bones created, and was based on Horikoshi’s original ending for theMy Hero Academiamanga before changing it for the better.Heroes Risingtakes place right after season four and before season five of the anime. In the movie’s opening, it is revealed that Midoriya and his friends are on Nabu Island for hero training and helping out the locals by acting as their own hero agency.

While most everything seemed bland and the team was getting bored, Midoriya becomes tasked with locating a missing boy but is eventually scolded by the boy’s sister for taking too long to find him. Later on in the film, the same boy, whose name is revealed to be Katsuma, tells Bakugo and Midoriya that a villain is attacking the island (which is revealed to be a lie performed by his sister Mahoro). After these events go down, Nine, the film’s main antagonist witha Quirk much like All For One,attacks Nabu Island and seeks out Quirks to steal. Nine easily defeats Bakugo and Midoriya both, of whom are sent to revitalize themselves at a local clinic.

After Katsuma helps Bakugo and Nidorina heal quickly with his Cell Activation Quirk, the two seek out Nine once again after strategizing with the rest of Class 1-A. Midoriya and Bakugo are eventually left to face Nine with Class 1-A and are pushed to the brink of defeat once more. But, in a desperate act of selflessness, Midoriya transfers One For All to Bakugo. With double One For All,Midoriya and Bakugo easily defeat Nine. In the aftermath, it’s revealed that Midoriya kept One For All and Bakugo lost it, making the moment a once-in-a-lifetime scene that fans may never experience again. One ofHeroes Rising’sbest features is its magnificent animation, especially with the final battle as Bakugo and Midoriya take on Nine for the last time. The plot itself is also amazing, and it is easy to see how Horikoshi planned on ending the show as Nine is a lot like All For One.

Released in 2021 asMy Hero Academia’sthird film,My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Missionis regarded by many as the bestMy Herofilm so far.World Heroes' Missiontakes place after season five and before season six, which means that Midoriya already has access to one ofhis new abilities,Black Whip. InWorld Heroes' Mission, Midoriya and Class 1-A heroes are helping out a large task force with Humarise’s terroristic acts of taking away Quirks and murdering innocent civilians.

But, unfortunately for the task force, the bombs that Humarise had been boasting about are nowhere to be found, leaving the heroes scattered across the planet in search of the weapons. Todoroki, Bakugo, and Midoriya were all placed in Otheon City, where a heist had happened, and the heroes had to respond quickly. While one of the criminals was captured, Midoriya was still chasing after the other, who was holding an important-looking suitcase.

Midoriya eventually catches Rody, the criminal who had accidentally swapped his suitcase with another in the chase. When the police arrive at the scene, they start shooting to kill Rody and Midoriya, forcing Izuku to take Rody and escape. It is then revealed that Midoriya is (wrongfully) wanted for murder, and Rody is his accomplice. After a while with the two on the run, the two eventually figure out a bit of Humarise’s plans as the group attempts to capture Midoriya and Rody with the suitcase.

This leads to the two finding Humarise’s main base and leading an attack on it. After mowing through Humarise’s forces, Midoriya is left to confront Flect Turn, Humarise’s leader with the Quirk to reflect attacks. While Midoriya is heated by Flect Turn, the hero refuses to give upand eventuallyenacts One For All at 100%to power through Flect Turn’s Reflect Quirk and defeat him while Rody stops the bombs from going off. LikeHeroes Rising,World Heroes' Missionhas fascinating animation and artwork that makes it so loved by fans. Humarise and the plot are also unique additions toMy Hero Academia’stimeline, making it a prominent step outside the manga/anime.
